I distinctly remember that the Artificer's Repeating Shot infusion having its created ammunition deal Force Damage, however I am unable to find any previously published versions of the Artificer that don't include any errata.
Am I just imagining things or did the force damage previously occur?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

A deck of playing cards are a great way to randomise encounters
The 2019 Artificer Unearthed Arcana (downloadable from WotC) included the Repeating Shot infusion in essentially the same form as the current one, aside from slight rewriting. There was no mention of force damage.
A number of Artificer subclass features involve force damage, so that could be the source of your confusion.

I can tell you with certainty that neither officially published version of the Artificer included a version of the Repeating Shot Infusion that did force damage. (Not the one in Eberron: Rising, nor the one in Tasha’s Cauldron.)

I don't recall the repeating shot ever dealing Force damage though in the end Force damage compared to magical piercing/blunt is almost a wash.
Technically B, P, S from magical attacks is better than Force.

Why's that? Resistance to B/P/S damage from magical attacks is more common than resistance to Force damage.

True, swarms and barbarians are resistant to all B/P/S damage, not just the non-magical type. It's still good against almost any other creature.
Edit: I forgot about some kinds of Plant creatures having piercing and/or bludgeoning resistance too. And now I have visions of a swarm of barbarian vegepygmies...

Since when? Last I checked it was the other way around.
Yup, still is. There is only one monster that is resistant to B,P,S from magic weapons, none immune.
Barbarian rage gives resistance to all b/p/s damage, magical or not. Awakened Trees are resistant to Piercing and Bludgeoning. Ghost Dragons and Swarms are resistant to all three. If you're only looking at resistance to magic damage specifically, you're going to get an inaccurate read because that doesn't count creatures that are resistant to both magical and nonmagical weapon attacks.
What's resistant to Force damage?

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
The vast majority of DMs don’t use PCs as enemies so Rage is rather irrelevant. Swarms are resistant to all three, and some plants are resistant to 2/3 of B, P, S, namely the B and the P, which offsets the Skeletons and those couple of molds/slimes/puddings. 🤷♂️ But there is not a single creature in all of D&D that is immune to B, P, S from Magic Attacks, not a single one. It’ll hurt anything. As for those swarms, that’s what a flask of oil and a torch is for. And as for the awakened trees, the barbarian with the +2 greataxe, and the fighter with the +2 glaive don’t care. They’re too buys stacking cordwood.

What's resistant to Force damage?
Amethyst Dragons and some Star Spawn Emissary things from Ravenloft are resistant to Force. For immune, there's the Helmed Horror, Amethyst Greatwyrm, and some construct from Dungeon of the Mad Mage. So, Force works pretty darn well against all but a very few creatures.
Edit: Yes, Sposta, magical B/P/S will do at least some damage to everything, I was just answering a question about Force damage :P This is also why I intend to have both an infused light crossbow for magical piercing and a homunculus servant for a force attack.
