Which Cleric Sub-Class do you think is the most fun? (and why?)
Also, putting out a request for ideas for making a cleric character extra fun: deity/higher power, relationship dynamic to said deity/higher power, modalities of worship (especially fun or kooky ones) and manner (flavor) of spell casting that might incorporate religion/deity/higher power.
It’s kind of hard to say, since fun is so subjective. I played a tempest cleric and really enjoyed it. I was the main healer, but I still packed a lot of offensive punch. It was a fun mix.
Pretty subjective. Light and Forge are good in combat (and wear heavy armor) so are fun. I'm running a life cleric and am actually pretty bored compared to the Star Druid and divine soul sorcerer I'm running in other campaigns, especially when it comes to cantrips (except guidance which is good).

I have played cleric several times now as it is my second favorite class. Each subclass I did play I enjoyed for different reasons. It would be very helpful for you to define fun for us to better answer this. I had a human light cleric that was a total blaster and who was blind, only able to see when light was present as a gift from his god, Raei. I had a tortle life cleric that had no god per se, but who worshiped the moon and collected soup recipes. I had a halfling forge cleric that had total Napoleon complex and stubbornly insisted on melee fighting. A goliath tempest cleric whose entire thing was to laugh in the face of danger and seek a good death after being given a warhammer of the storm (basically a Klingon with Thor's hammer). I also had an aasimar death cleric who worshiped Jergal and would help usher naughty people into the afterlife, recording their names whenever she could.
Any of these sound fun for you? I could give specifics if any stand out.
I love order domain and trickery. They both are fun roleplaying, especially the order converting people. Having played many clerics I do think any of them can be fun in their own way. Except maybe nature domain but that’s my 2 cp

Charge 20 gp per healed HP - paid in advance, in blocks of 10 hp - grifter life cleric adds drama to the group.
I like Tempest Cleric a lot for it's better weapons/armors proficiency, it's ability to rebuke attackers and its affinity with lightning or thunder damage. It has some nice multiclassing synergy possibility.
The most fun I ever had on a single classed cleric was when the DM let me have Illusionist Bracers at character creation so I made a Nature Cleric. Thornwhiping enemies into my Spirit Guardians twice a round was both powerful and hilarious.
But really, and, unfortunately, I think the sad thruth is that the most fun you can have with a cleric is on a character that is only multiclass dipping cleric. Most clerics are very same-same and the ways in which they are different doesn't really affect anything "fun" they can do.

I'm probably laughing.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.
This question is not about optimized play but just straight are you having fun. I would like to put forth that smashing things with a maul with spirit guardians is super fun.
So for me its War Cleric. Do what you can to grab booming blade, get warcaster, don't worry about maxing wisdom (16 is fine, half damage on multiple targets is great consistent damage). My current character has two levels of war wizard for shield spell and other toys, but that isn't the most important part. Its about wading into battle with a cloud of death swirling around you and hitting things hard. I find that the bonus action attack is fun, as is booming blade and trapping them in the spirit guardians.
The best part is that you really only plan on casting spirit guardians and cantrips so all the rest of your spell list can be used for other fun.
I am playing a Forge Cleric, and being able to stand firmly on the front lines, is awesome. Very high AC, pop spirit guardians and spiritual weapon, take the dodge action and bonus action to smack things with the spiritual weapon or cast a healing word, it's really fun.
I've also played a high level Arcana Cleric in a mini-adventure (level 15) and that was a blast. Booming blade and firebolt really change up the standard cleric actions.
Both subclasses are still Clerics, so have all the great baseline Cleric support capabilities, but I feel like they both stand out as pretty unique twists on the standard Cleric playstyle.

I think (unfortunately) I might agree with you that at least for me, the cleric subclass might not make as much difference in terms of fun, as I had hoped. (I think subclass might impact fun more for some other classes) . I guess some subclasses have more spells that I like in their spell lists than others.
The Twighlight Cleric's DarkVision solves a problem that I think can be not fun (for the level of play that I am currently at . . maybe someday not having DarkVisoin might be a fun challenge to overcome, but not now).
I think choices about deity and your character's relationship to their deity and how you roleplay that might be a bigger opurtunity for fun than what subclass you take, espeically if you go the extra step and choose something beyond what is suggested the WoTC books, something really off the wall and zany for the deity/religion, the character/deity relationship and how the character interacts with others, as a religious creature and possibly as a healer.. I enjoyed reading about the moon worshiping soup recipe-collecting tortle cleric, the blind (but blessed) blaster, the grifter-healer.

I'm playing a multiclass Rogue / Trickery cleric and having a GREAT time
Not massive on damage but very very tricky

Playing a Light Cleric atm, really fun being able to do multiple things: tank, burst damage and healing!
