I want to make a character that kind of makes fun of lawfully stupid paladins but I would like some tips on how to roleplay this character without it being annoying to the rest of the party. The rest of the build will be your basic paladin.
What’s annoying to one person or group may not be to another, so it’s tough for anyone here to say. Therefore, the best advice I can think of would be to talk with the rest of your table, players and DM. Explain what you want to do, and let them tell you how far is too far before it gets annoying. I wouldn’t necessarily give the players veto power over your concept, just find something that will work for everyone. And if you want to go the extra step, check in with them periodically to see if you’ve done anything that’s crossed a line. And good on you for being considerate and thinking of the other players instead of just going ahead with something that may make things less fun for everyone.
Thanks for the advice. I haven't talked to the whole party yet but did talk to my DM he said to try to avoid that's what my character would do trope. So Im going with a idiot with a heart of gold or as lamsposta would put Johnny bravo with out him be a sexist pig. I do think it important to be considerate of others especially with tabletop RPGs. We all her to have fun and make friends and that hard to do if your pissing people off.
I played a 'lawful stupid" paladin in 3.5e. I had him act like Kronk from Emperors New Groove. It was largely his deference to authority that made him support the party's less scrupulous actions. I also worked it out with the DM that the rest of the party could make deception or persuasion check to convince me that an action was just (with in reason). It worked really well and was a fun campaign. It help that the party was not really evil, just often greedy.
