I was thinking of playing this multiclass and seeing if it made any sense, I was thinking that I could infuse a sword(with enhanced weapon) and a light crossbow(with repeating shot) than make either the sword or crossbow my pact weapon so I could get the hexblade bonus and some invocation bonuses. and if I needed to spend an hour to switch witch ones my pact weapon. I had one invocation I was thinking of choosing (improved pact weapon(duh)) but didn't know what else to pick. I mostly want to do it for role play reasons but don't want it to be unplayable. Would this multiclass be any good? Any way I can make it better?
hmmm it could be a really interesting combination. personally kind of like the idea of having an Eldritch machine artificer, where your gadgets call upon power siphoned from a higher being. i would be tempted to dip up to five levels in warlock, to get the invocation that grants a second attack. but that might be asking a lot since most campaigns only go to level 10 anyways. if you can though, eldritch smite as an invocation. you get a LOT more spell slots to use it with by multi-classing you you can lean more into that burst damage.
It's not particularly synergistic, but it could work decently enough. If you're looking for infusions, remember that you can make any of the common items from Xanathar's Guide, including the Dark Shard Amulet.

I sing to life and to its tragic beauty To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!
Honestly i'll ditch the X-bow, if you MC Warlock, you'll get Eldritch Blast anyways.
There's also the issue of how MAD it would be, but after that, its the choice of the subclass.
Battle Smith could be interesting, but outside a few mechanics and features, a Battle smith is essentially a Tech Savvy Hexblade (Use INT instead of Dex/Str), the addition of the Steel Defender can be cool.
Artillerist..., the Eldritch cannon and arcane firearm can be fun additions, but it also depends if you wanna be more melee or ranged centric, if you wanna be Long range support for the party, then Artillerist is the best for it.
The Alchemist, i never look at it really so i won't talk about it, i know that the elixirs can provide some support and versatility, but honestly imo its Meh...
One that could be interesting is the UA Armorer, you'll get a Power armor, that you can upgrade as you go either the heavy kind of power armor, or the more stealthy/scout like version of it (but any of them can be heavy armor, and you don't suffer the penalties for it been heavy armor).
The biggest point would be the Infusions and what you choose to infuse or the magic items you will imitate.
Infusions for an Artificer is like Invocations for a Warlock, so yeah in the end, and Eldritch Artificer would be highly versatile/modular.
One way to go aroudn some of the issues of this MCing, would be to take the Headband of Intellect Infusion when you hit lvl 10, and before that you max CHA for your Warlock side.
But it also depends on how you wanna distribute the levels between the two, if the hexblade is really only for the Pact weapon feature at lvl 3, then no need to bother about it and invest all you can in INT and just enough of CHA to not be impotent with your warlock features, but thats about it.

Warlock / Artificer is pure role play, because it is practically the opposite of power building.
Both are partial casters, but their casting stacks very poorly. You end up with extremely low level spells/effects and also low level non-spell stuff.
So if I were you, I would just say screw it, I'm going to be 'weak' and just pick what sounds cool to you.
The other option is to change Warlock to Wizard (which goes well with Artificer), or change Artificer to Bard, Sorceror or Paladin, all of which work well with Warlock.
Been thinking of this build myself. Hexblade armorer subs.
main reason. Eldritch armor invocation/ armor infusion. Don it instantly anytime! One hand weapon for pact, use guardian offhand to hopefully give the disadvantages
This is a weird build...I like it. I would first ask my DM if you could play an INT based warlock. That would make the build less mad.
I would probably just dip into Hexblade (as most do) and focus on Articifer levels.
I totally think Warlock should be INT based not CH based....Warlocks are not known to be charismatic, personable, likeable etc...like pallys and bards...they should get prof in Intimidation though....scary yes, charming only via spells.
I went Artificer / Knowledge Cleric for a Variant Human.

CHA is NOT only about charm and likeability...
Its Power of conviction, persuasion and Strength of Character.

If Warlocks had high INT, they probably wouldn't have made their pacts in the first place. It is nothing to do with how smart the Warlock is, it's how well they shmooze with an otherworldly being.
That’s not true. Very smart people often do very foolish things. I’m reminded of the line from Jurassic Park, “Your scientists were so worried about whether or not they could, they never stopped to think if they should.” High Int makes a ton of sense for a Warlock, high Wis on the other hand....

Not only means at least in part it is about charm and likeability. It can also represent strength of character, but wrapped into it is charm and likeability. Whether that fits the warlock I'll leave to others but they are in a bad spot with their skills to some degree due to int being a dump stat for them and most of their skills being int based.

I don’t think the weapon infusion and improved pact weapon stacks.
