Look I have no plans to play one DND as I am enjoying 5th to much and I hate all the changes one DND brings. So all e am asking is a means to just shut off one DND to stay in 5th edition when making a character.
In my opinion, it is all still 5e. If you do not like new options, then just do not use them. 1D&D UA literally changed nothing fundamental, all it did was provide new options.

We won't know till it's released, but I think it's more than just new options. From the UA they're looking to change Guidance. They may very well leave it as is, but that's just one example of a pretty big change to an existing utility.

Just changing spells and classes is not a big deal though. If they put EEPC under Legacy, I do not see why they cannot put BR/SRD under Legacy, and let people continue to access them.
For PHB, people should probably buy it in case Wizards discontinue the sale, but I do not see Wizards taking it away from people who already bought it.
It is a big deal if the end result is something many do not like or care for. For instance the wild shapes for druid or how spells vs spell slots are handled. Many things within one DND has been highly controversial that many players do not like. Thus having the option to simply not use these changes would be more adherent to making sure the customer is kept happy vs not and they going somewhere else.

I still do not see how it is a big deal. If a person bought the PHB on here, they should still be able to use it, just like how people who bought VGTM and MTOF here can still use them right now. The only potential change is that they might stop selling the PHB, and only sell PHB2 or something.
I can appreciate the programing effort it would require to add a slide button to activate or deactivate 5e/1d&d when building character or from the dm side of creating a campaign. I think it is a good idea and methode of managing consumers expectation. I mean we can activate or deacticate other things so why not that. Keep 5e as default plateform or vice versa.
If OneDnD changes a huge swath of options there needs to be a toggle to use the old original 5e versions of it. If the whole site changes your character sheet and options to OneDnD versions by default with no choosing I might as well just stop my subscription here. My current function of this service should be unaffected by the rollout of OneDnD imo.
Unless significant changes are made - you will have control over what books players use to build their characters. Share the OG 5th books, don't share the new ones. Tell your characters to stick to the original 5th edition races, classes, etc
DNDBeyond looks to be able to do that without much fuss at all. For example, I don't want a lot of the stuff from Eberron or Critical Role books showing up in my game, so I can exclude them from sharing and advise players not to use them.
I agree. I think D&D Beyond is a great toolset, but I am also not too keen on most of the One D&D material I have seen to date. I don't even like the fact that they don't support certain books, like Volo's Guide, if you haven't already purchased them. I guess as long as we are able to customize the game and add our own homebrew material, it will be ok. Or at least I hope that is the case.

Agreed if we are forced to the changes and not have a toggle then my subscription would end as well.
