I have wondered the same, never came across any kind of option but would like it in the future.

"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
My daughter and I have DnD Beyond accounts. I have the core books in hardcover & through DnD Beyond. She is going away to college and I was hoping to get her the PHB on DnD Beyond so she can have it in college. I think she would prefer that over lugging around a hardcover book. That's for us oldsters.
A work around could be getting the Master Tier subscription and adding her player account under my campaign.

If it works like that.
That is how the master tier subscription works, and is currently what I use for my players. It is very handy for those types of scenarios and might be the easier method for allowing her access. As long as they have a character in a campaign of the master tier subscribers account they can access all the books and material you have already purchased.
I would however like people in a campaign of my own to be able to say hey I want to add this class/race to the game I will buy it for you so we can all have access to it. They can obviously buy it for themselves and still use it in game but it leaves the DM relatively in the dark about their particular choices and how that subclass or race functions. Workarounds are aplenty but I really like to keep everything available through DnDB when possible.

My only problem with the master tier subs and content sharing in general, is that they still have only a limit of 2 charcater per account. and they still cannot make a bunch of characters on their account and are forced to do them in your campaign. basically, they only have access to the content, not the charcater options, unless they are done in the campaign they have joined. so i have 8 players with a maximum of 12 slots in the campaign and each players i require they make another charcater just in case something terribly bad happens. i'd need a 16 player slot campaign which do not exists, and if my players do it on their account, they have only the SRD stuff to act upon.
so yeah, i really wish there was a better way or there was more slots. disabled characters is a great start though. actually kinda solved my problem on that one.

As long as content sharing is switched onin the campaign, all the resources (PHB, SCAG, the race options in Volo’s, etc.) purchased by people within the campaign is shared.
Still hoping for a way to gift a subscription ... my family is looking for a way to give me something for the holiday and/or January birthday and I'd like it to be this ... and they don't want to just hand me cash.
Has there been any update to this, I'm currently playing in a campaign and the DM is great but has trouble with founds so as a thank you i wanted t gift him some of the expanded rule books.
I know that this is quite an old post, but do you have any updates on how soon gifting subscriptions might be available? I'd like to purchase a hero or master tier subscription for someone, but I see no option to do that yet through my account. Unless of course, I log onto their account and buy it for them with my own money.
If you don't have an answer, that's perfectly okay, and I hope you have a wonderful day! :D
Seems like they should be able to implement this through the "Redeem a Code" page. Maybe let users purchase a code instead of the digital item and then just give that code away themselves.
Is there a way to gift someone a subscription or compendium book?
Something as simple as purchasing an item and entering the recipient's e-mail so they are notified of the gift. If it exists then I don't see it.
Thanks for your time.

Staff have said they really want to get gifting up as soon as they can, but it isn't going to be during 2018, sorry!

Same here. It would be great by either by adding a way to gift a digital purchase, or even to gift $ credit.
It is the season to gift...any chances of this happening this year?
If I remember correctly, on a recent developers update Adam said it is unlikely. Apparently it is more complicated than it appears from the outside.

No updates, unfortunately.
