My character has a priceless viol. I want to set the value to -- like a magical item would be (or even artificially mark the viol magical w/out any magical effects).
When I set the price to - and --, it removed the value of the field. When I set the field to 0, it ignored it and set the default price. When I set it to -1, it simply accepted the value of -1 😆.
I'm hoping this is even intended to be possible (I haven't looked into creating a custom item yet, so that may be the route to go), but if not, this is a feature request.
Do you mean in the homebrewer? Just leave that field blank and the system should insert the — for you automatically.
Since we can only create Magic Items in the homebrewer, it is automatically “magical” no matter what you put in. You could make a priceless magic turd in that system simply by putting “Magic Turd” in as the name and description as long as you also made selections from the small handful of required dropdowns.
I think they mean changing the price of the Gear item Viol, and yeah, you can't "blank-out" the price of a mundane item. I'd recommend a custom item for this case, or else make the Viol like a billion gp ;)
