One of my players made a homebrew race and when I was looking at their sheet I noticed that almost all of their stats for their skills are way higher than they should be? The only thing that's off book is their race which they made a homebrew for but I'm not sure what exactly in the homebrew is wrong?
If their species features are correct they would be have +2 in DEX and that subspecies is +1 in INT.
So they rolled: STR 11 DEX 14+2=16 CON 16 INT 13+1=14 WIS 8 CHA 13
Did they roll stats? With those species bonuses, they would not have been able to get CON to 16 with standard array or point buy.
The point buy costs for each of those:
Ability
Score w/o species bonus
Cost
STR
11
3
DEX
14
7
CON
16
Not possible without a bonus from somewhere
INT
13
5
WIS
8
0
CHA
13
5
For point buy, you have 27 available points to spend on abilities. Based on the above, your player should have 7 points left which will buy a 14 for CON so something is giving him a +2 to CON.
Their race isn’t even adding the bonuses its claims to, and definitely isn’t adding hidden bonuses. If it was adding either, that would be shown in the sidebar when you click the score.
Sorry for any confusion but I meant more their stats for their skills are much higher than they should be not their base stats. They have a +8 to acrobatics for example when is should be a +3? (Their Dex is +3 and they're not proficient), same with their other skills.
Ah yeah, that does seem off, and the race could be the cause since I don’t see any other homebrew.
I’d first try removing the subrace, then the race to see which (if either) fixes those numbers. That might help you narrow it down. It’s probably a Modifier added in one of their features. Maybe the ASI? Without knowing how the homebrew itself was set up, though, it’s hard to give any more specific advice.
There's a feature listed under the species which is called "Darkvision", but the description says "Lotorans are a naturally dextrous race, meaning that they are given an additional 2 points to Dex at base." That seems likely to be the culprit.

So they did roll stats, at least from dndbeyond's perspective.
