Sorry if I’m reviving an old thread, but I was just looking up other folks’ thoughts on doing this.
I wound up creating a custom skill called Sanity and (in an unorthodox decision) based it on Constitution rather than Wisdom, Intelligence, or Charisma as most people have done. I see it as mental fortitude. As Lovecraft would attest, even wizards can go mad from seeing eldritch creatures, whereas Howard might say that a barbarian like Conan wouldn’t bat an eye at fighting one.
In any case, making it a custom skill allows you to apply proficiencies to it, and basing it on an ability modifier allows it to level automatically, rather than the player having to remember to adjust it after raising an ability score. Hope the idea is helpful to anyone until we can add custom ability scores!
Some things - like books that release large amounts of subclasses that are still not working correctly take precedence over other things.
This is frankly why DDB never gives a deadline aren't doesn't say what they are doing - because when priorities get pushed people go "it's been two years."
I would to see Sanity and Resistance added also. There's also Fear, Horror and Madness. Madness has types, Temp, Short, Long and Perm, a way to roll the table. There types of Sanity saves based on WIS, INT or CHA. This is not just Cthulhu, there's horror type games based off of the old v3.5 "Heroes of Horror" book that can be used in 5e.

I'd like to use the "New Ability Scores" rules as outlined in the DMG but I can't seem to find any way to do that in DNDBeyond. Is this rule supported by the character creator in any way?
If it is, where do I enable that feature? I vaguely remember seeing this feature in the past somewhere but I can't find it now.
If this isn't a feature of DNDBeyond, what's the best way to manage these ability scores?
Staff have said that they plan to add these in the future.
For now, you could make notes in the character notes section on each character sheet.

You could also add it as a custom skill in the skill section of the character sheet.
Necro, but when is this being added to sheets??
Second necro. I'd be very interested in this being implemented.
We're doing an Asian inspired campaign right now, I would also appreciate this
Me too.
I'm in a campaign where we track honor, piety, and reputation using the proficiencies section.
E.g.
Piety (deity name): +6
Honor (chivalric): +4
Reputation (Deadly): +8

I made a feat with actions that can be rolled for Checks and Saves.

Two... years... later...
Any plans on adding this? Normally, D&D Beyond is on top of things like this but even Roll20 beat them to it and they only recently added the DMG.
I think it's planned for but no set deadlines.

Come on Devs... is not that hard to allow customs score/variables to be implemented on the builder....
And you know this because?
