I'm having trouble with the spell scaling when creating a home brew spell. I wish my spell to scale each spell level above second, but I can't seem to get it to show on the character sheet once it's done, it keeps showing the dice count as 0. What am I missing?
When I had this problem, it was because i had the "higher level scaling type" drop down menu set to "spell level". It fixed right up when i set it to "spell scale" instead. Hope this helps, as i can't access the page you linked to.
Not necessarily. After that, did you actually set the scaling function. Once all of that is done, re-save the main spell itself so that it rechecks everything. Then refresh the page with the character sheet on it. If it still isn’t fixed, then
Hello! It appears that you have not set up a modifier for damage on your spell. To deal additional damage, you'll first need to set the initial damage. You can then add a "Level Scaling" modifier that alters your damage.
Hey, I'm still having this problem. I have the modifiers set, I have the scaling set to spell scale, I have the spell scaling set as additional count based on the existing damage modifiers and still nothing.
Not only that, one spell in particular absolutely will not show up on a player's character sheet despite two other homebrew spells on their domain spell list showing up.

What do?
Make sure that the At Higher Levels entry has Level: 1 to make it add extra damage for each level above the starting spell level. (Using 2 will add extra damage every 2 levels above, and so on.)
It's been a number of hours since you posted, so the spell should be available if you reload the character sheet page; but if the spell is still not showing up for the character, try "refreshing" it by bumping their level up by 1 and then back down, which will force DDB to reload features etc. for the character.

I'm trying to scale the damage for a spell, I want it to go up in damage each level and I've been wondering what I should do for the fixed value and if I should do additional count or additional points for the scale effect.

You want “Spell Scale,” and “Additional Points.” If you are ever unsure, the easiest way to figure it out is to find something that already does what you want and use it as a template for your homebrew. Then all you need do is edit things instead of doing it from scratch.
since it's meant to be more of a protection spell. but I'm not getting the scaling at every level. am I supposed to just add 19 of these, with different values for each levels?
Additional Count is for spells that can affect extra targets, or fire multiple rays, or things like that; it uses the Fixed Value field. You want Additional Points.

I did this and I still have this problem. I know D&D beyond hates mobile, is that why it won't change?

I did. In order to get around it, I just used a pre-existing spell and tweaked it a bit.
That is sometimes easier.

This was very helpful. Thank you very much

I'm having a similar issue [Sorry for Necro, but I'm using google and not finding much of anything]

Ahh, alright. I always get confused. thanks for clarifying.
Remove cantrip and place a level on the spell! After choosing Spell level just fyi! Won’t work if the spell is considered a cantrip
