I needed to quickly build a high level character and i already own the PHB. I dont want to pay for content that i already own in book form just to use the character creator. Is there a redeem code in the book or something?
Wizards of the Coast does not own D&D Beyond, so the physical books they produce do not contain a code to redeem a digital copy on D&D Beyond.
As an alternative to purchasing the full books, you may also purchase individual races, subclasses, feats & magic items from the marketplace. Should you later wish to purchase the sourcebook that they came from, any such individual purchases are fully discounted from the price of the sourcebook.
You are also welcome to create your own content using the D&D Beyond homebrew tools.
You can also just purchase the needed character options to build your character. If speed is an issue, that would be faster than homebrewing, but it would cost you some . How much depends on the character, but it would be less thank purchasing access to all of the PHB content here.
Okay, so now that D&D Beyond is owned by Wizards of the Coast, can we add this option? I still don't want to buy content twice. I prefer the physical books for reading and in-game reference, but D&D Beyond is a great way to make characters and store that information.

Thank you.
I doubt it will change. How would the cover the costs of converting the books to the digital toolset if they did?

D&D Beyond is not owned by Wizards of the Coast, so they receive no income from any purchased physical books.
They are offering a digital service, so in order to access the content on D&D Beyond you will need to purchase them on this platform.
Unfortunately you cannot redeem any books that are already owned.
thanks for your help. ill check out the digital service
You can use homebrew tools to add any player options from the book you want to use.

this aged poorly
It really didn't. "This aged poorly" is used when something was believed to be correct, and wasn't. It was accurate at the time.
Also, please do not dig up 2 year old posts, just to give a meme response.
