I just created a homebrew magic item, a weapon specifically, and when I try to add it to one of my characters to test out that the bonuses are calculated properly, it doesn't show up in the search results on the character sheet. It shows up just fine in my homebrew collection list, and I am able to find other magic items I created today in the Manage Equipment search results, but for some reason this one in particular is not showing up. I'm not sure if this is a bug with it not showing up at all, or if it's a case where there's some lag time from when I created this item to when it's available in my character sheets?

I categorized this as a Legendary item, in case that might have something to do with it? I just checked again, and I'm able to select every other homebrew magic item I created today, none of which are Legendary items. It's just this one that's still not showing up even 10 minutes after having finished creating it. :\

Okay so it looks like it's just a matter of lag in availability. The item finally showed up in the search for a test character sheet, and now another homebrew magic item I just created that was not Legendary is not showing up in the search results. :shrug:

Hopefully it doesn't occur again, but if it does please provide a link to an affected character and an affected piece of unpublished homebrew so that myself or another moderator can take a look to best assist you. 

It's entirely possible that this was just user error. I realized that I neglected to activate homebrew content for some of my test characters. :facepalm: That being said, I just created a homebrew shield that was just a copy of Shield +1 to verify that homebrew shields are not getting the proper AC bonus, and it refuses to show up in the search on a character sheet I was already testing other homebrew items with. So go figure.

 It can take up to 20 minutes for updated homebrews to push through to the character sheet after they have been saved. Sometimes it’s instantaneous, other times there is a delay.

This is also happening to me, but I created the item last week and it worked immediately on one of the character sheets. I have edited it a bit today and it is still available on all the other character sheets in my campaign, apart from the one character i made it for!

Another common cause for specific homebrewed Magic Items to not appear as available to add to a character is if it is a type of weapon or armor that PC is not Proficient with, and the player has the box checked that limits available search results to only Proficient items.

I’m not a Mod or anything so I cannot look into it for you, but the Mods and Staff are busy and I have spare time so I can try to help you troubleshoot this until they get here. If whatever I suggest doesn’t work then you’ll just have to wait for one of them.

• “Edit” that character and the Home tab all the way to the left in the Character Builder, even before Race. Is the toggle next to “Homebrew Content” flipped on? (It should be Red, or if you don’t see that color the position will be to the right.) If not, flip that switch to enable Homebrew for that Character.
• I know the name of the item says “Cloak of Vax,” but did you perhaps create it as a piece of Heavy Armor (or Martial Weapon or as a Shield)? I ask because Sirel Marw (cool name btw) is not proficient with any of those things, and if you went into Manage Equipment and left the “Proficient” box checked, it won’t actually show you any of that stuff.

So I actually had that homebrew tab flipped, but I just flipped it on and off and that actually worked! I feel like I tried that already but good to know that can sometimes be an issue too, thanks again! And thanks the name is a more serious version of a warlock I had before named 'Gris Stayne' (that name really got under my DMs skin, which was hilarious. Joke's on me though he fell down a well and bit the dust, hah).
