Since D&D Beyond started the forums have allowed swearing. Now, obviously it's about how you use the words - using it against somebody is against rules, which is understandable, but using it as flavourful speech choices? ("I've had a shit day." [s word in case it is censored] or "My last D&D game was ******* brilliant!" [f word in case it is censored]) - this was always allowed.
However in this post my f-word to describe how untouchable my super high AC bladesinger was, got censored.
I'm hoping this is a bug or maybe a new future we can toggle off.
I despise censorship. It's about how words are used not which ones are. Swearing can be funny, interesting and helps emphasize a point or emotion far better than the "tamer" alternatives. There are extensions for browsers that can censor swearing if people don't want to see it or if a parent wants to put it on for a kid. Please don't force it upon us adults who don't mind / like it.
EDIT: You also sponser a webshow where they swear like filthy sailors. So this is totes mixed messages territory here.

Hey there Cyb3rM1nd! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this matter.
We've put together a post addressing the issue here -- but in short (so you don't have to jump over there for more) I'll let you know that you can opt-out of the censoring! Just head to your profile page, and edit your "Preferences". In that section you can go ahead and select to show censored content.
I understand the reasoning but am so very glad we can opt out. Thank you!

One instance I noticed, I tried to type the word “r e t a r d e r” as in a break retarder on a truck and it blocked that. Is that covered under this censorship too?

Hey IamSposta! Can you let me know if this issue persists? Words such as retarder in the context you mention, or fire retardant should be unaffected.
I will admit, that was the context, but the word was by itself in a list. The forum thread was about how to come up with techno jargon on the fly for Artificers. I can’t find the post itself now, but when I posted this helpful table:
Follow these steps, arrange results in any order:
Pick any term from physics such as (or just roll 1d6):
Graviton
Neutrino
Plasma
Phase
Tachyon
Photon
Pick one of the following (or just roll 1d4):
Burst
Wave
Pulse
Field
Pick anything that even remotely sounds like it could be a car part such as (or just roll 1d12):
Manifold
Conduit
Relay
Capacitor
Generator
Inverter
Restricter
Multiplier
Inducer
Injector
Regulator
Coupling
Pick a malfunction or issue such as (or just roll 1d8):
Jammed
Inverted
Depolarized
Degaussed
Leaking
Corroded
Misaligned
Depressurized
Pick a proposed solution/repair method such as (or just roll 1d8):
Repolarization
Realignment
Adjusting
Bypass
Recharging
Degaussing
Inversion
Refocussing
Table 3, Result 7 was not originally “restricter” but I had to change it because:
I'm glad for this thread. I generally self censor using things like "f***ing" so literally 99.99% of people know what I mean, but no one can accuse me of adult language where minors might see it (of course the 99.99% applies to those minors too).
