The Arrow-Catching Shield should add a +4 to AC (2 for the shield, and 2 for its enchantment "You gain a +2 bonus to AC against ranged attacks while you wield this shield. This bonus is in addition to the shield's normal bonus to AC."), but only adds the +2 of a shield.
The system has no way of knowing which attacks the character is defending against are ranged attacks and which ones are not, so it displays the number that they irks against everything, and (for the time being at least) remember to add +2 if they shoot at you or cast spells that require ranged spell attacks.
That would explain it then, haha, I figured it would have a way to implement temporary AC numbers that show when you hover over, or at least when you click, which would also be good for Mage Armor and Shield. Thank you for clearing that up.

Temporary or “toggleable” features are currently in development. No, nobody has any idea how long it will take exactly. You can check out the Weekly Developer Updates to stay informed.
