I am searching though the options in creating a magical weapon trying to find a way of extending the range on this magic longbow, but I cannot find the option. Is there even an option for this or am I blind?
I am as well. I've been messing around with the homebrew creation for a couple hours and so far it doesn't feel very intuitive or flexible when it comes to altering properties. Hopefully that's something they plan to work on.
There's no option for this - the current magic item homebrew system calls for the selection of a BASE WEAPON, which then has additional properties added on top of that - it mostly doesn't provide scope for altering the properties of the base weapon.
The only existing item that does something similar is Dwarven Thrower which just notes the range in the text as far as I can see.

Yeah, I was hoping to actually fix the Spear... by not only making it finesse but giving it the 10ft range it deserves. Lol, why does the spear have the same range equipped with both hands as a rapier. As a martial artist that has done many tournaments I can tell you right now the Spear has incredible range and is definitely a finesse weapon! More so than a short sword, take it from a Kali fighter! While fighting our spears (which measured at 7" length) almost any of our thrusts can easily hit 10" away. (If you saw the poor ceiling you'd notice that sometimes it can even reach beyond that...)
This will be a blessing when it finally arrives. Would really love to be able to homebrew mundane weapons, modify existing properties (like extending range) either as variation of or magical enhancement to an existing base, or even just have additional bonus damage of the same type as the base weapon be included in the Damage column of the Attack Action summary table.
Looking forward to it I've got a barb/rogue who would prefer a large Scimitar over a rapier. I've tried making it but the modifications dont seem to be working. When I tried a +1 variant instead it said it was too similar to a +1 battleaxe despite the base weapon having finesse.

To create that weapon (I called it a saber) for my group I took a Rapier and simply used the following to get a 1d8 Slashing Weapon with Finesse:
Modifier—>Replace Damage Type Modifier Subtype—>Slashing
Also, it doesn’t matter if something is “too similar” just for you and those in the same campaigns as you to use those homebrews as long as they are in your “collection.” That “too similar” only matters if you want to publish it for the universe to use. Finally, after you save the modifiers, re-save the whole item to trigger it to recheck if it is still “too similar” to something else.

That's what I eventually had to do was just add it in the notes section. Thanks y'all.
Has this feature been added?

The ability to homebrew mundane (base) weapons is planned, but I don't have an ETA.

any update on this?
On their roadmap, it looks like they have a homebrew revamp planned in the long term. I wouldn't be surprised if this is included in that revamp.
Still doesn't seem to have been added, I can't find anything.
Nothing yet :(
It's been mentioned as part of the homebrew overhaul, which is still a long way out

Here is a +1 version (it had to be “magic” for me to publish it) so you can see for yourself:
