So it's been 4.5 years and there's still no place to add boons. Any newer update on this?
As always, there are no ETAs and no significant news. Besides implementing books, their primary focus right now is on inventory management. I believe they said epic boons, piety, dark gifts, etc. are next after inventory management, but I would not count on it being implemented anytime soon. Inventory management has been worked on for a really long time now, a workable version of containers was just released a while ago, and the whole inventory thing probably still very far away from being anywhere near done.
If you really want to use epic boons right now, just click on the link in Yurei's signature, as Yurei made a pretty good guide on how to implement epic boons yourself via the feat system.
I don't know who to tag, or if it's something the devs can even talk about. But when boons are added, are they going to be added to the books they came with (if they came with them), like would i have to have the dmg to get boon of truesight?
First time posting on a forum in here so i don't know how it works. But it's something that came to my mind while reading this thread
Bippity boppity bump. Any news on this? Epic Boons, Demonic Boons, and Dark Gifts are still not able to be added, and the previously linked roadmap is no longer available.
Over four years and this is still not implemented? I know its a niche feature, but this is just sad. Inexperienced site users have been making their own boons as feats; this is not a hard feature to implement. This is a weeks work for an junior developer. They could not find that time in over 200 weeks? If you are not going to do something because its optional, too niche, or just not a good ROI, then just be honest with your customers. Stop lying.

DDB is not allowed to make them as feats. Most of the dev time has been spent adjusting the character sheet framework to create either add a section for boons, or to reprogram the feats l section as a “Feats & Boons” section capable of pulling from multiple tables. (I don’t know which way they’re going with it.)

As an update, I just added a boon as a homebrew feat. Took 10 minutes. I now understand that my estimate of a week of work for a junior developer is overly generous. Changing the "Feat" section to read "Feats and Boons" should take about 10 minutes too in the back-end. I maintain my previous statement; the fact that this feature has not been implemented in four years is sad. Just treat these boons like a Barbarian's Rage; a checkbox that changes no stats. Or do it erroneously like the Soulknife Psychic Blade feature that is treated as a ranged attack which gets buffed by the Archery Fighting Style. To have done nothing in four years, though. Oof.
Notes: Please remain respectful and courteous in your posts.

He is one of the most helpful, if not the most helpful, community member on the forums, especially in regards to homebrew. Please do not act like your concerns are the only concerns that matter, because everyone has some beef with Beyond not working fast enough to implement their most wanted features. There are reasons why things are done a certain way.
Beyond is NOT allowed to implement RAW willy-nilly however they want. Beyond was not even under Wizard's umbrella until recently, and as a third party previously, they cannot just mess with someone else's IP however they want. The reason they are not implementing boons and stuff as feats now is because they are working on that system right now to be able to implement it.
You are not the only one who is frustrated. I do not mind people showing their frustration. What I do not mind are people being rude and mouthing off on the wrong people. The more toxic users drive away helpful volunteers, the more it is going to bite the community in the ass in the future. If you really think you can do better than Beyond, then do not use Beyond and make your own tools. However, I plan to stick with Beyond for a while, so do not ruin it for the rest of us if you decide to move on.
"Beyond is NOT allowed to implement RAW willy-nilly however they want. " Then what good is it at all? Four years of impotence. I only said that honesty was best. If such a verdict is so poisonous then strike me down as you did. I would rather be free than live in a paradise of lies.

Do not try to act innocent and deflect, because you certainly were NOT being honest. You were using poisonous ad hominen attacks on one of the members of the community, and he was not even defending the company, he was just freaking explaining the situation. We do not need this kind of toxicity. If this was the real world and you started yelling and screaming at other customers, you would have been kicked out of the store.
As we have already tried to explain before, Beyond was NOT Wizards, and as a third party, they cannot just do anything they want with someone else's IP. If they tried to deviate too much from RAW, Wizards could end their business altogether. If you really think IP is trivial legal matter, then try to get your own license from Wizards to make your own digital tools.
Everyone here is unhappy with the pace Beyond is working and some of the decisions they have made. I have been on here for three years and I am still waiting for epic boons to be implemented. I do not care if you air your complaints and frustrations. What I do care is if people are being obnoxious and making false accusations.

If that was true, that is all DnD Beyond had to say. "We can't do it, Fam. We are not allowed. Sorry, but here is how to implement it on your own." But that was not what they said. They said it was on the agenda. Four years later and nothing.
Hopefully, now that WotC has ownership over DDB, they are able to implement boons soon, if not then I am not sure what the hold up would be now. The amount of time that threads like this has existed without any updates or news of a highly requested feature is really ridiculous.

DDB has been working on Boons for a while now already, it’s just a matter of waiting until they’re finished implementing it.

Hasn't that been said for a few years now? There has been no ETAs or updates so I am skeptical that they have really been working on it all this time.

I guess you are new here. Yes, they have said so recently that they are working on the general features system. And no, they are not giving out any ETAs. They worked on inventory management last year and they said they are working on the general features system this year after inventory management.

No, they’ve been wanting to do it for years, they actually started working on it earlier this year or the end of last year. They are actually actively working on it now.

just to add onto those... there are a lot of thing sthey needed to do first, that was a redesign of their own backserver. for they needed to make the character sheet truly customisable. the generic feature system is boons and the likes. its a system that allows players to do a lot more with their character sheet as it is a system based on customisation. they needed to redo a lot of the system to be able to go forward. so they took a break in the last 2 years and tryed to finish that as fast as they could as they realised that without it, there is barely a thing being able to be done.
you say there was no news about boons and the likes... but the dev updates wants you to know they are done every fridays and they keep us updated. the encounter builder was also put 0on the back burner during its own beta phase. can you imagine that. mostly because they had to, they had to focus on their own back server for quite some times.
so again, there was news about it all, just have to wait about it. they are coming as well as a lot more things.
