These game mechanics are in draft form, usable in your D&D campaign but not refined by full game development and editing. They aren’t officially part of the game and aren’t permitted in D&D Adventurers League events, nor are they available for use on D&D Beyond.

so.... can we playtest and make a character on dndbeyond with just the playtest items?
Adding to what Sillvva said, UA hasn't been added to DDB for a while now. As long as it's considered UA Playtest material, it won't be on DDB.

Leaving OGL 1.0(a) untouched and making SRD 5.1 CC-BY-4.0 is a great first step. The next is a promise to do the same for future editions. Here's a discussion thread on that.
Not putting it on DnDBeyond seems weird considering it is being advertised and promoted as an integrated play experience...but hey, that is obviously not my call to make and I suspect there are probably technical and business reasons for the decisions.

When they closed UA Support they stated that it was to pull employees into the direction of working current and future useable content rather than playtest.
I had hopes that WotC would bring back UA support after acquisition. But so far no. I'm sure you could just hamfist the changes into a DDB character sheet, but I just did a paper one. It was fine ish. But man do I love Chaaracter creation with DDB support. What a time saver.
Honestly, I was excited to playtest this material, but considering my play is mostly online using D&D Beyond, it's pretty disheartening to hear that I can't actually use D&D Beyond to playtest. I don't know if my groups will be able to playtest, and that makes me sad.

Yes... and classifying it as such is just odd (and DDB is WoTC). The line did not magically insert itself, a decision was made to label the material that way.

I think the fact that they're calling it Unearthed Arcana 2022 gives the attentive reader a sense that what One D&D may ultimately be called it won't be "that far" from 5e. In 5e Unearthed Arcana has always meant playtest material intended for upcoming products. I don't think there's a lot to feel weird about if you recognize the goal includes keeping the 5e fan base chill that this won't be that radical a departure.

My guess / hope is that they probably have a large amount of "technical debt" from when they first launched the website. Code that works but only for what it was designed for and isn't extensible for future features. And they they are using the D&D One launch to re-write large parts of the codebase in order to be more maintainable and easier to work with.
Back when D&D Beyond made the decision to stop supporting Unearthed Arcana, there were several factors that went into that decision. And perhaps the biggest was the challenge it presented being weighed against the opportunity cost. As Joe stated in the linked video, the challenge was trying to get it delivered to users as intended by the game designers and in a timely manner without putting all of the other things the team was working on on complete hold. Especially when you consider that it's all experimental and there is no guarantee that the content will be released as is. For things that change or are dropped between UA and release, that development and content entry effort would have been wasted when the team could have been working on other things.

Yep, and that made a lot of sense, especially since the UA was going to be optional or secondary to the game while getting the core engine and material implemented should be a priority.
The One D&D material will be guaranteed to change (that is after all the point of playtesting) but it is the new core system that all the current and future material will revolve around,. The fact this new product is also specifically marketed as being integral to DnDBeyond and it specifically has been categorized as something that will not be tested on DnDBeyond is just odd.
Like I may have said, I am sure there are technical and business reasons for this decision...from the outside is just looks weird...lol.

From the user point of view it looks like all development has stopped since the merger. The weekly dev updates kept us informed on what changes were being worked on, including the generic features system that would fix many issues with the character sheet. There was talk about working with WotC on a new dev roadmap but the last dev update was on May 12, over three months ago. The mobile app team and lore team continue to make updates but the devs are missing in action. I don't know why anyone would think playtest UA material would be implemented when nothing else is being implemented.
We used the Class information first. Then Racial, then Backgrounds. The only exception to anything in the UA was we allowed the Warlock to take Eldritch Blast.

DDB is great, but it could be better. Here are some things I think could improve DDB

Abide.
They probably only want to write code once.

I'm with you in it. Is this feature so hard to integrate on Beyond?
Yeah, but classifying the playtest material for the new incarnation of the game as UA is a weird choice as well.
Abide.
That's not a DDB thing, "Unearthed Arcana" it's literally the first line on the One D&D document.
Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
Considering there are feats and features from the 2014 PHB and DMG that still aren't implemented, I'm going to go with a solid "yes" on that one
But this is the first UA that is hosted on DDB and not on Wizards' own site, so I get the confusion.

Wizards bought DnDBeyond and put this unearthed arcana on the website to be tested, just to not allow the testing?
Dumb.

is there going to be One D&D character sheets? i have the PDF to make a Character but no sheet.
https://media.wizards.com/2016/dnd/downloads/5E_CharacterSheet_Fillable.pdf : We used these form fillable sheets. We left off personality traits/Bonds/Flaws.
