Player Character and NPC summary sheet for most used stats for the DM.
Having one sheet that could hold all the important stats the DM uses the most would be great. These would be things like live and normal HP, AC (and if a shield is used), initiative, passive stats, etc. Being able to add in NPCs would be very useful, as well.
For magical weapons and other equipment that have charges. Can you add the checkbox to the player's character sheet under the actions tab next to the weapon? If its a piece of armor or other equipment, add it to the actions page too? Say I have a robe that allows me to cast fireball once per day. When I am attuned to said item or have it equipped, add it to the actions tab.
I would love to be able to decide which official spells from unlocked content is available for my campaign (individual spells and book sources).
For example, I have a number of homebrew revised spells. Instead of both the revised version and the official version showing up on a player's character builder/sheet, only the ones that are made available by the DM would show up.
If a DM doesn't want (say) Water Walk, Simulacrum, or Tiny Hut, then those spells could be "checked off" (not available)
If a DM doesn't want spells from SCAG available, then those are "checked off".
Or if a DM doesn't want (for example) spells from the illusion school in his campaign, those spells could be removed for a particular campaign.
A few more thoughts if I may in relation to the topic of encounter builder.
In the DM notes section (or where else appropriate), it would be extremely helpful with some sort of library where subject cards (think post it, kanban) could be created and stored for use and specifically easy re-use. Example: a Location (POI) card where a DM can store quick notes of interest related to the location. Similarly, a card can be created for an entire encounter or an NPC. The stat block for the NPC would be visible (no mouse over) but also room where the DM can add specifics about the NPC such as affiliations, alignment, story hooks, relations to other NPCs, where the NPC might lead the PCs to and the NPCs ulterior motives.
With that, it would then be easy to "assemble" cards within cards so that for instance NPCs can be added to Locations and the encounter / location narrative and descriptions are visible with NPC information injected where needed.
Sorry for sounding like a kid in a candy shop! :) Anything you add that can reduce the prep time needed will be very valuable as that is always the pacing item of frequency of sessions. To allow a DM to build libraries of content that can be assembled into something larger will inevitably I believe also drive a larger user base that keeps coming back. Cheers!
As a DM that wants to create more interesting and detailed Villains and Monsters that differ from the usual Monster Manual fare, I'd really appreciate the ability to create characters, much like you would a player character, using the character creator (but with like Monsters such as Dragons or the like, characters that don't have a race equivalent). I appreciate that would probably be a very long process to make, but I would find it useful.
In addition, my list of characters is very cluttered and disorganized, so I'd like the option to at least move my characters around, if not to also sort them into folders (ie I have made NPCs using the character creator, it would be nice to be able to separate them somehow from the characters I want to play, and then if I could also sort the characters I want to play by class etc that would also be neat).
I tried creating an account for the feedback webiste, and it said that it sent me an email, but it's been a while and I still haven't received an email in my inbox or any other folder (including spam). I'm pretty new to dndbeyond, but my friends and I are really enjoying it so far, I just was hoping to get some answers/provide some feedback.
I'm going to start trying my hand at DMing soon (to give our current DM a chance to play more) and I've written a short adventure that I'd like to share/run with them. We always play online since we all graduated college together and have now moved to various parts of the country, so some folks recommended we try out Roll20, even though we have already been using dndbeyond for everything so far. I checked it out and I think I really prefer dndbeyond! The one thing I'm missing is a way to put my adventure and supporting items (notes about NPCs, maps, etc.) into the website with all of our character sheets. I noticed I can create items and spells and things like that, and include general notes (private and public), which is really cool, but currently I keep my adventure notes in OneNote on my computer, and it'd be cool to have that integrated into our campaign on dndbeyond. It'd also be cool if I could share the adventure I've created with other users, and they could share with me (free or otherwise). Maybe this is all already possible, and I just don't know how to do it, in which case, if someone could point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it!
As of right now, my group uses the following resources to run our campaigns online:
Character sheets: Dndbeyond
Books/manuals: Dndbeyond
Maps/Character movement/encounter visual: Sketchpad 5.1 (https://sketch.io/sketchpad/) - This is basically like paint with layers and clip art added in, it's extremely basic, but it works. I drew my map with a grid background in One Note on my Surface Pro with my surface pen, screen snipped it and added into this sketchpad as the background. We basically then use this when we play as our virtual table top.
Dice: In person or any dice roller found on google
NPCs: OneNote
Adventure Details: OneNote
Group Video chat: google meets/screensharing
Everything else: OneNote or by hand
It'd be really cool if I could add all of the details for my new adventure could be written into dndbeyond and shared with or kept from the players as I choose. I was able to access the feedback website and I think most of these things have been requested already, but I was unable to vote or comment without an account there. We are very much enjoying dndbeyond already, and I really don't want to switch to something like Roll20 (who have many of these things already, but is suuuuuuper manual, eg. having to enter every detail of every spell added for every character). The idea of an integrated virtual table top is cool, but my number one request is a way to input the details for the adventure I wrote and its NPCs. If anyone has any guidance, I'm definitely open to ideas! Thanks in advance!
How do I set my profile pic or fix my name on zendesk? It says it creates it autmatically, but it doesn't seem to be able to link to my account here to pull in my info. I see others with profile pics, so did I set my account up wrong?
I posted this below a few days ago however I believe it would be best to place it here for people to see
If it is not already being worked on I would like to ask for a page that the DM of a campaign can access to see such statistics as HP, AC, and passive ability scores of all characters below their portrait. I like the ability to access each character sheet from one place as is currently available however my desire is to have one place where at a glance I am able to see things about the character without stopping the game to open their page.
I think it would be nice if I could filter magic items by minor and major items. This would help my life while I'm using the magic item distribution guidelines from the XgtE.
I was wondering, will we see any version of the app that will work for "non-iOS 10" tablets?
I was pretty excited to finally get into the site, register and subscribe; only to be gut punched b/c my still like new Ipad2 cannot upgrade to iOS 10 (Apple's fault), to download or even install the DND Beyond iOS app. I'd be lying if the thought and functionality of the app on my tablet was one of the main reasons I purchased the membership. I personally would think you'd want to also offer & cater to everyone pre-iOS 10. I know a lot of people with older iPads that still work perfectly fine like mine, despite the later iOS software killing their speed.
Thanks for allowing us to voice our thoughts, I appreciate it!
Unfortunately, making the app functional on previous versions of iOS isn't a simple task.
It may be something that happens once development is complete, but certainly while the D&D Beyond mobile application is under development, the dev team will only be building for the more recent version of iOS/android.
One thing that could be highly useful that shouldn't require MAJOR changes would be an option to toggle on Hero Points. This is an optional rule in D&D that would be nice to have accessible on character sheets.
If a tagging field is added to the character DB, then the player characters can be grouped and displayed by this tag. As a DM it would be very useful to be able to group my characters separately from my player's.
Can we please take off the default settings for eberron and magic the gathering? It's completely unnecessary. If Playtest isn't preselected too than than what's the point beyond forced exposure to the latest expansion.
Just a minor feature, but it would be nice for magic items to be able to give a bonus to the Maneuver save DC of Fighter Battle Masters and the Ki save DC of Monks. Similar to how Robe of the Archmagi gives a bonus to the Spell save DC. You would just need to add the correspondend Effect Subtype to the Effect Type "Bonus".

The ability to take someone's homebrew, make a copy, and edit it would be nice. Afaik there's no ability to do that and when I tried to make my own homebrew I found it a touch confusing. I'll get it with some trial and error but I like being able to look at the 'coding' for lack of a better word with an existing thing when doing so.

Thank you for the excellent work so far!

I wold like being able to see an individual changelog on each character, that way if I fat finger something and confirm it I can undo it.

"We got this, no problem! I'll take the twenty on the left - you guys handle the one on the right!"🔊
That's completely understandable. I hope once things have all been fleshed out and settled, it may be considered. :D

I would add some support for seeing a change log that includes things the system does for you when you level.
Please add the ability to group characters.

??? If I change the content slider, every new character keeps that setting until I change it again. Does this not happen for you?
