Not sure if this has been posted already (didn't fancy reading 82 pages of posts) but when i was creating a character some backgrounds weren't available?
I tried to make a Barbarian with the Outlander background but only a handful were available. Was wondering if anyone knew why this was?
Barely two posts above you is the answer:
During the beta test of D&D Beyond, we'll only be including content that is freely available from Wizards of the Coast, including the D&D 5th edition SRD , D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, Elemental Evil Companion and potentially others. The beta will not include additional content from a Commercially Released Book, Module or Supplement.
All of the remaining published content from the PHB, DMG, MM and other D&D 5th edition books will be added to D&D Beyond for product release - the cost for accessing this material has just been announced.
Sorry, the forum begins on page 1 rather than page 82. I did have a cursory glance up the final page after i posted but all i could see was questions about Volo's. Apologies.
So if i'm reading this correctly, the Outlander background isn't in the basic rules? That's why it's not available in character creation?
ps. Thanks for the reply, and sorry for not searching properly.
Yes, the Outlander background is not part of the free material, that is why is not available here for the beta. Next week, on the 15th, all the books , or bundles, will be available for purchase.
Loving the content and exporter. Am I missing something, or are the forest gnomes nonexistent?

In short - Forest Gnomes aren't part of the Basic Rules - they're in the Player's Handbook.
Elusive Forest Gnomes are not part of the Basic Rules/SRD. ;)

Just some feedback: When you print the character sheet, under features and treats: Is it possible to print the explanation from what the features and treats DO as well? :)
F.e. not only "second wind" but "second wind: You have a limited well of stamina you can draw on to protect yourself from harm. You can use a bonus action to regain hit points equal to 1d10 + your fighter level."

Agreed. Even shorthand would work; e.g. "1/rest, bonus, regain 1d10 + fighter lvl hp"
I don't know what I am doing wrong but when I am viewing my character and I chose export, it brings up a PDF of a blank character sheet (no info on it at all, not even a name). I am using Google chrome on an iPad.

Here's one I'd like to see (sorry if it was mentioned already): a buy system for equipment that lets me enter my starting gold and will decrease my cash balance as I go. Also, the buy system could show the accumulated weight of my equipment and compare with my strength/encumbrance. Getting super greedy now, but, I would also be interested in container capacity being used here. Can I really fit all of my purchases in my backpack or will I need saddle bags?
Character logging would be nice. Handy for adventurers league, and after 4 weeks of my home game, I'm about to institute it for my players at home as well. Tracking on the character sheet is really problematic.
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already but - I'd love to see some support for mount/wild shape management, if not on the character sheet itself then somewhere in the character builder or character viewer screens.

The way iOS handles form-fillable PDFs is apparently the issue. Try to open it in a reader app like Adobe Reader and see if it works.
In regards to Warlock charactor creation, Can only select Fiend Patron in drop down tool and even with Pact of the Tome selected, it will not let you pick Book of Ancient Secrets as an invocation.

During the beta, only items that appear in the free SRD/Basic rules are available. After launch, items from published sources can be purchased.
Just noticed that it won't let you pick the same proficiency twice, which I like a lot. The creator is very well done, but I feel like equipment management is still a mess. Things I'd like to see:
--Ability to view contents of packs/break them down into their component items.
--Some sort of indicator as to how many you own already when adding items
--Ability to quick add default starting equipment
At a bare minimum, I think I need to be able to search and add items while viewing owned items and the starting equipment in order for equipment management to really be usable.

Does not work. I just get an error on Adobe Reader that the file is corrupt and it can not open it.
For a class which has proficiency in medium armour, when adding armour to Equipment (by selecting "Add Items"):
When "Proficient" is checked then Chain Shirt (medium armour) doesn't appear in the list when it should. (Also Spiked Armour doesn't appear but I don't know where this comes from so maybe it's not supposed to.)
Only by unchecking "Proficient" does the Chain Shirt appear.

Hmmm... I guess it just isn't going to work on iOS. Have you had success with form-fillable PDFs from other sources?

There has been mention that there will be additional character sheet options available. Will any of these new options be available at launch?
