I don't know if this has been mentioned in the past 82 pages, but my backstory doesn't appear on the print preview screen or when i print it. Did I do something wrong?
@ Stormknight, to be clear this is not an attack on your company. As I said, people like me are not your target demographic really and I do not expect this to change. But you asked so here you go.
- Other Proficiencies and Languages Block This block is often filled with redundant information . Skill block has the proficiencies marked already so listing them under other proficiencies makes no sense, the same with Saving Throw proficiencies.
-Equpiment Block. This is a small block and quickly runs out of space
Features and Traits Block. Here you list useful traits along side "Hit Points" and "Proficiencies" but do not provide a page number or any information about the traits.
Often times the Personality Traits, Ideals, Bonds and Flaws. These blocks are often cut off
The Spells sheet - This section only shows Spells prepared so if you want spells are a known you have to look online, and then switch them out there and then print a new character sheet with the new list of prepared spells. For cleric or druid with access to all the spells there is not much you can do here, but all arcane casters have very specific spells either known or in a spell book.
Also the font is so small in parts that I can't even read it.

Don't worry - I like feedback, as do the staff.
Thank you! :)

I decided to give this a try and used the random feature and selected a level 5 human cleric with multi-class available and feats allowed.
First, it spread the 5 levels out over 4 classes ... not something I normally see with character building. (Broke or just unlucky roll ... Not sure)
Second, it gave me a Grappler feat with a str req of 13 and my str was 10 ... that will need to be fixed.
So far, I'm enjoying what I see, but it appears that there is still a lot of tweaking to do. Keep it up!
Ok, I just tried the Quick Build Option and just got Svirfneblin Magic but I am Human ... I'm thinking that there needs to be some cross reference to the feat requirements before choosing them for the character.
Turns out that only those two feats are available for me to choose, even when I use the standard method as well.
The random generator is just that right now completely random often times making no sense. Makes for some interesting roleplay opportunities.
Stormknight: To add to what Golaryn said, I would really love the option to export to a detailed character sheet that includes the descriptions of class abilities, feats, and spells so that players won't need to either a) constantly consult the PHB to know how these things work until they memorize them or b) copy the information to a separate cheat sheet. I find that play speeds up considerably when all the pertinent information is presented on the character sheet and logically organized.
The character builder has been making great strides. It's much more useful now than it originally was.
The character sheet printout could use some love though. I think you should take some cues from OrcPub2. There printouts are great. The proficiencies & languages box is broken up into the different categories, the features and traits box lists all the extra actions you can take broken up by action, bonus action, and reaction. All the passive and indirect traits go into the box for additional features and traits. They all list the book and page that it can be looked up from as well.
The order of sections in the Character Builder would be better if it followed the timeline of how your character grew up and became an adventurer:
1 - Character is born! (Race) 2 - Character's genetics plus environment growing up shapes them. (Abilities, Description) 3 - Character has first career. (Background) 4 - Character becomes awesome adventurer! (Class) 5 - Character buys/gets stuff to aid in adventures. (Equipment)

It purposefully follows the same flow as the Player's Handbook, which was determined after feedback from thousands of playtesters.
I'm not going to say it's perfect, but there has been proper research into the best way to progress through character generation. :)

But... I believe Badeye tweeted that there will be a few different formats for character creation further down the line.
Sorry, I didn't mean to shut down your ideas - it's always great to receive them, especially with an explanation to the thoughts behind the ideas. I was just trying to explain why the process is the way it is currently!
I haven't seen that tweet, but I do know that Badeye and the team are committed to making D&D Beyond as accessible & flexible as possible. :)
Not sure if this has been posted already (didn't fancy reading 82 pages of posts) but when i was creating a character some backgrounds weren't available?
I tried to make a Barbarian with the Outlander background but only a handful were available. Was wondering if anyone knew why this was?
Barely two posts above you is the answer:
During the beta test of D&D Beyond, we'll only be including content that is freely available from Wizards of the Coast, including the D&D 5th edition SRD , D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, Elemental Evil Companion and potentially others. The beta will not include additional content from a Commercially Released Book, Module or Supplement.
All of the remaining published content from the PHB, DMG, MM and other D&D 5th edition books will be added to D&D Beyond for product release - the cost for accessing this material has just been announced.
Running a bit low on patience, are you?

Never!! Bring on the chromatic orb, forest gnomes and drow! ;)

A drow Wild Magic sorcerer attacks you with chromatic orb. 18. What's your AC?

1. This may be an issue on my end related to the PDF export. Is anyone else running into an issue being able to read the number (e.g. +2, -1, or +5) listed in skills and saving throws after one has exported and saved the PDF to their computer. When I export I can read them just fine. Once I save it to my computer I am no longer able to read the whole entry when I open the PDF. I can only read either the +/- or the number (2, 3, 4, etc...)
2.I appreciate all the work put into improving equipment and the adding of equipment. However, it is still pretty clunky. Still have to open up a separate window and pull up the equipment list and toggle back and forth. Also, if one is choosing to go with the pre-set starting equipment shouldn't most of it just auto populate and also ought the list of available weapons just be a drop down section menu in the same window?
Don't get me wrong! I am very pleased with the awesomeness of this tool and thankful for all the work y'all have put into it!
+1 for a "Copy Character" button on the "My Characters" page.
Another very small thing, noticed when I export sheets, it doesn't list the contents of Packs (Explorers/Burglars/etc.) in the Equipment section. Could be helpful but not a big deal.
Also noticed that when I start with a Rogue and Multiclass to a Paladin, Martial Weapons does not show up as a proficiency. Shields and Medium Armor do show up however.

Sorry, the forum begins on page 1 rather than page 82. I did have a cursory glance up the final page after i posted but all i could see was questions about Volo's. Apologies.
So if i'm reading this correctly, the Outlander background isn't in the basic rules? That's why it's not available in character creation?
ps. Thanks for the reply, and sorry for not searching properly.
