Can I clarify that when you use the hyperlink option knock That it will work on DnDBeyond character sheet...it is the one thing that is not working for the scroll that I made...I double-checked your instructions and I have the ability to now equip the Knock Spell scroll and the spell description can be read if I enter it with copy and paste in the description but the link does not show up anywhere...I can display the description I pasted in the homebrew in the VTT on Roll20. I am not sure you can answer my question without me showing you what I made, but if you have an idea, please let me know. Thank you again...what I created with your help is good enough. I also have the ability with my Artificer, with DM permission, to make Crossbow bolts with cantrips infused in them. I followed your steps but used weapon homebrew instead of a scroll and it is amazing. So grateful for your help!!! But the ability to use the hyperlink would make them even better.
Hyperlinks have always worked on the character sheet before. Tooltips like Knock don’t, but if you make it both a tooltip and a hyperlink it should work. No idea about Roll20 though, never used it.
and it helps to have the Allow Home Brew Content checked on your character sheet. As I found out after about an hour of trying to figure out why I could not add my Scroll of Teleportation Circle into my inventory <insert facepalm here>
While your detailed (now a bit out of date though) list is fine for creating a nice-LOOKING scroll IamSposta, it still doesn't add the spell to the character's spell list, since the scroll item apparently can't give spells to characters. To make a FUNCTIONAL scroll (i.e. one that actually makes the spell show up in the spell list, so the poor player has even a minor chance of remembering they have the scroll) you need to create it as a Wondrous Item.
I in no way want to denigrate the efforts made here, but I think it's important we emphasize that dndbeyond still does NOT have functioning spell scrolls , only various more or less troublesome hacks, and I really hope they still keep it on their to do list. Kestrana's suggestion is IMHO the best possible solution.

Actually, I did mention it to one of the other users who PMed me about that, and then they mentioned that I had shared that tip in Post 31. I didn’t feel the need to repeat it after that. And again, I recommend making it as a scroll to get all the relevant stuff in all the right places, and then changing it to a Wondrous Item so that it works. Way more convenient than creating it as a wondrous item in the first place.
Look, I know it’s not perfect, but until DDB actually gets around to fixing it, it’s the best we got. I shared the information so we could make it work in the meantime.
Do links no longer work in the character sheet? I've followed the instructions and I find the link to the spell works in the homebrew viewer but not when in the inventory of the character sheet (viewed on a PC). The tooltip is the same way (works in homebrew viewer not in character sheet) but as described above that's expected.
When I save the item it says "This Item cannot be shared with the community for the following reasons: This homebrew Item has text that includes External Links". I'm not sure if that's expected or if that's a new limitation.
Thanks for this, it's something I (and obviously others) have wanted.
There was a recent update so hyperlinks may no longer work on the character sheets, I haven’t checked. One thing to note, if you did the trick to bold and italicize the link, then you have to include all of the code for the link too. You can view that by clicking the button with this symbol: “</>”
As for the “This Item cannot be shared with the community for the following reasons: This homebrew Item has text that includes External Links" that is normal. That just means you cannot “share with comunity” but you can still use it for yourself. There is no need to publish these and it would technically be plagiarism if we did. That is why I have never published any.

Thanks. I've tried with the em and strong tags both inside and outside the a tag. The link is now working but it's not showing in character sheet as bold or italic. Then again, I made another word just bold and it's not showing as bold either. Both show fine in the homebrew viewer. I'll keep fiddling with it.
It seems to be working now. I used strong because that's what the editor used when I choose B from the toolbar. I think I'm just seeing a delay between when I save the changes and when they show up in the character sheet. I've been refreshing and removing and re-adding the item, but I think I need to wait a few minutes. I changed the other word I bolded to use b instead of strong, saved, refreshed, re-added and I see the spell as a functioning link, bolded and italicized and my other word at bold; but when I inspect it in the browser it's still using strong. Thanks very much for your help.
Does adding the [_spell]INSERT SPELL NAME HERE[/spell_] make it somehow appear on your spell list? That would solve so many management problems I'm having
If you make it a Wondrous Item instead of a Scroll, then you can "Use" it - which means the scroll shows up in your Spells list as one you can cast.
Note that you also need to change the # of charges min/max to 1, and spell level to the appropriate spell level when creating the item.
With all of that in place, I think this works really well.
Suggestion to the DDB engineers: if Scroll magic items can be "Use"d, then we'd get the same effect (spell shows up in spell list, # of charges is correct, etc.), for probably a lot less work on your part.
That was the same solution I ended up with. Thanks for all the tips!

Instead of one wondrous item for all scrolls, my tip was to make each scroll a wondrous item so that the charges stayed accurate.

Yes! I will remake them as soon as I have some spare time. I'm just bothered that the propper tool for creating a Spell Scroll is so inefficient and will end up with me remaking every single scroll I ever homebrewed.
You don’t have to remake them. If they are still a scroll, and everything else is correct, just change it from a scroll to a wondrous item and re-save it.
Happy to help

Fair points, and I certainly agree with your last sentiment!

Yes, there is a delay of up to 15 minutes because of the server’s internal cache.
As for the whole “strong/b” “em/i” thing are just different HTML formatting codes:
