Thank you so much for making this. Before I was using GIMP(GNU Image Manipulation Program) with hundreds of layers and streaming that to my players. You have made it super easy to use. It's extremely intuitive, and my players love being able to move their tokens around.
Anyone with a Google account can use Imger and searching google for maps not already included, is super easy. You've made my life as a DM 1000x easier!
I'm a new DM and I love using AboveVTT, It's intuitive and user friendly. Thank you for all your hard work. The one feature I wish it had but doesn't is dynamic lighting and player field of view. Is there any plan for implementing those features?
it might be a good idea to update the original post with the current version and what changed... it still looks like you're still promoting an Alpha version whereas AboveVTT is by now a full featured open source community driven VTT solution for DNDB! With a product that good you are allowed to be proud of what you and the rest of the team achieved ;)
How do this compare to Owlbear Rodeo in simplicity?
Very similar I'd say AboveVTT has a load of DnDBeyond integration ie characters in your campaign monster stats and maps from your adventures that you have with DnDBeyond so one could argue features add complexity. Basically if you and your players are using DnDBeyond I think its the best option I definitely recommend giving it a try. if you and your players aren't using DnDBeyond then Owlbears probably a better fit

i'll say: Happy Birthday AboveVTT! 1 year in the making and it made me invest in D&D Beyond content massively as it's the best integration i've seen so far!
I'm looking for Objects - Benches, Tables, Alters, Shelves, Barrels, Carts, things to populate my maps with - am I missing this somewhere, or has this not been integrated yet?
You can create your "custom token libraries" from the top right menu. You need to provide links to the images you want to use.We do have some included tokens (folder AboveVTT builtin). It will probably be expanded with more stuff in the near future.
Please note that this should be used only for objects / other stuff.. and not for NPC. To create NPC the preferred way is to create them as homebrew directly on DnDBeyond
A Big Thank you to the AboveVTT team, My players and I just finished HotDQ and we played it with AboveVTT from Greenest to Skyreach (start to finish) not being the fastest of play groups we've seen so many cool features added to AboveVTT over that time now on version 0.75 and all the work you have been doing on AboveVTT when we finished the campaign the players said how much they had enjoyed it and mentioned in particular how much they liked AboveVTT, so felt obliged to pass that on Thank you from the players and DM

Glad I stumbled across this topic, 3 of my players have either moved or are in the process of moving so we're going to have to transition to some kind of VTT. We've occasionally used roll20, but this seems easier to use and better integrated with DDB. I'll have to play around with it myself and propose it to the rest of the group!
I have been using this for a while now on 2 different games. One is all zoom and the other is in person. It works well on both. The zoom I have to add a non-player account so I can record the VTT for later viewing but it works well.
Then if you add in Inkarnate.com for making your own world and battle maps. Anything is possible.
That is until today. I have a game tomorrow and I can't get DNDB or AVTT to work right today. After about an hour of trying to get logged in, I can't get AVTT to load into DNDB in either Chrome or Firefox. on 2 different computers.
I hope this is a maintenance window server issue.
Otherwise I am in love with this combo.

sorry to hear your issues. Lots of people are playing with AboveVTT right now so there's no general issues that I know of (well.. you may have hit a bug or something..)
I don't think we are allowed to give support here, so I recommend that you reach the AboveVTT community somewhere else.
Just stumbled on this. I really love it! Supper easy to use.

Maybe in the future :)
Right now there's a lot of other things to do :)
It has enough options to create nice tactical maps. Like it was said before, very easy to manage, thank you.

Just realized that aboveVTT is now one year old!
I agree it needs an updated post, given how it has grown and all the improvements that have been made since.

Can you import maps you've made yourself for homebrew campaigns?
All you need is a map's URL, including the share link from your own Google drive.
