Another person and I have been playing Final Fantasy 15. We want to take our characters out of the Final Fantasy video game and import them into D&D to play more with them outside of the Final Fantasy world. As they come from the Final Fantasy are video game, our backstories and things are relatively short, but that is not the problem. The main problem is that we are not sure what the D&D equivalents are, so I thought I would ask you all for your thoughts and advice on how to bring a character from a different universe into D&D.
If you were making the characters below, what D&D 5e characters would you make, based upon their physical descriptions and backstories etc.?
Here are our characters, along with some screenshots from the other game, which I hope helps. Our backstories are custom made stories that we have tied into the events of Final Fantasy XV. We want to keep the themes but understand that they will have to be modified to fit within a D&D world. Also, Mavis's backstory is slightly longer than that of Zeke, as there is more to her early years than a simple, carefree life.
Ezekiel Farwood
Ezekiel is known as Zeke by his friends. He is twenty-years-old and was born in Altissia.
Zeke lived a relatively prosperous and happy life as merchants' son before a group of Niflheim demons accidentally killed his parents while attempting to kill Noctis and the Lady Lunafreya. Although terrified, something inside of him drove Zeke to pick up a stick and try to slay the demons, but he was woefully unprepared for just how strong they were. Fortunately, a Glaive of King Regis, who was impressed by the child's resilience and tenacity, came to his rescue. The Glaive took Zeke back to Insomnia and raised him as his son, teaching him the ways of the warrior, until finally, Zeke took the place of his adopted father as a fully realised Kingsglaive.
Zeke would meet his future wife, Mavis after Mavis was transferred to Insomnia to train as a Kingsglave when he was fourteen, and she was twelve.
Mavis and Zeke were married on Mavis' eighteenth birthday.
On his first mission to guard the King during sensitive negotiations, the Emperor of Niflheim betrayed a truce with the Kingdom of Lucis and attacked Insomnia. Zeke did his duty as a Kingsglaive and stood his ground against the overwhelming forces of Niflheim to fight for his King and country, alongside his new wife.
Mavis Farwood
Mavis is eighteen-years-old and is married to Ezekiel Farwood, and was born in Galahd. The youngest of ten children, her father is a veteran of the war between The Kingdom Lucis and Niflheim. Her mother is a former school teacher who turned to prostitution to support her husbands growing alcoholism. Mavis spent her formative years as a neglected half-naked waif, living on the streets of the slums, begging for food and coin, and she does not look upon that time fondly. It was during those years that she developed her talent for performance, magic and combat.
When she was eleven-years-old, she walked into an army recruitment centre, strode to the front of the line, quickly pushing aside the older recruits. There she looked at the recruitment officer right in the eyes, matching the fierceness of his gaze, and calmly, and without trepidation, announced that she wanted to become a soldier. The recruitment officer could tell that she was underage but was most impressed with the girl's fearlessness and how easily she pushed aside the older recruits, so he gave Mavis a form for her parents to sign to be allowed to join.
Mavis took the form from him and ran off, shouting that she would be back within the hour. However, she did not take the recruitment form to her parents; instead, she ducked into a corner once she was out of sight of the recruitment centre and forged her mother and father's signature. After which, Mavis returned and presented the signed form. The recruitment officer was suspicious and asked Mavis many questions, which she answered with convincing lies.
That was it; she had done it, she had found a way out of the slums, and during her basic training, she continued to seize upon every opportunity. After a year of basic training, it was evident that Mavis had magic and combat ability that far exceeded the other recruits. Her superiors decided that she would better serve as a Glaive of King Regis than a simple soldier. On her twelfth birthday, she was transferred to Insomnia to begin her training as a Kingsglaive, and it was there that she became friends with a fourteen-year-old cadet, who would eventually become her husband.
Mavis and Zeke get married.
Mavis and Ezekiel got married on Mavis' eighteenth birthday, two weeks before the battle of Insomnia. By the time we start playing them, Zeke and Mavis have been married for almost a year and have a daughter, Rina Farwood, cared for by her godmother, Iris. Iris was once a member of a noble house of Lucis, but with the fall of Insomnia, and after the Empire seized control over the Kingdom of Lucis, Iris has opened up a secondhand clothing store in Lestallum and has become best friends with both Mavis and Zeke.
Iris is slightly younger than Mavis and Zeke, being only fifteen. She is a free spirit who always follows her heart and is cared for by her retainers. In turn, she cares for Rina, and despite retaining her bohemian soul, she has become much more focussed and mature since the fall of Insomnia.
Iris has dedicated herself to helping the refugees fleeing from the empire as much as she can. Although she is not a soldier and doesn't fight, she is an accomplished merchant, despite her young age, who uses her incomplete ambassadorial training, and the money she earns from her store to assist those who have less then her.
You can see both Mavis and Zeke with Iris in their pictures above.
The Battle of Insomnia
Mavis and Zeke fought valiantly against the forces of Niflheim during the battle of Insomnia, fighting by their Kings side, until King Regis, realising the fight was almost lost, ordered them both to get as many survivors as possible out of the city. While searching for survivors, the pair came across two of the Crowns Guard, Monica and Dustin, escorting Iris, a daughter of one of the noble houses, to safety. The Crowns Guard recruited them to assist, and together, Mavis, Zeke, Monica, Dustin and Iris, along with several other refugees, escaped Insomnia and made for the relative safety of Lestallum.
Once there, they came across Iris's retainers, who took over her care, getting her settled in a local hotel. Monica and Dustin went off to help Marshal Cor locate the legendary weapons to help Prince Noctis defeat the forces of Niflheim, and Mavis and Zeke, set about assisting refugees fleeing the empire. They also fight to defend Lestallum from attack and search for meteor shards, powering up the EXINERIS Industries power generators and bring light back to Lucis.
Iris and her retainers settled into a local hotel, where Mavis and Zeke visit their friend often, growing very close to her in the process.

There we have it; those are our characters, their backstories, and exploits within the Final Fantasy 15 Multiplayer DLC. We want to turn these characters into D&D 5e characters. The problem is that D&D has a much more expansive character creation than the video game does, and we are not sure how to turn our Final Fantasy characters into D&D characters.
If you were making these characters, based upon their backstories and physical descriptions, what characters would you make?
We are looking forward to any advice you might have on converting our Final Fantasy XV characters into D&D 5e characters.
Thanks,
Forge.

So, based solely on what was provided, I'd make them both human, Zeke with the Guild Merchant or Noble background, Mavis with the Urchin or Soldier background. Classes are tricky, since you've given practically no information on their skills, roles, or other abilities, aside from both being able to fight and Mavis possibly also having some ability with magic...
Zeke, given that his martial training was passed down from what seems to be a member of an order/guard unit, might fit as a Fighter - Battle Master. Alternately, the spirit and resilience he showed prior to his adoption might tend towards the Fighter - Samurai class
Mavis seems to be a fighter and a mage, so one option would be Fighter - Eldritch Knight. This is a quarter-caster class that is still predominantly a martial class. Alternately, if her early childhood weighs in on her abilities more, Rogue - Arcane Trickster might be a good option. Ultimately, without more specific info, narrowing down a focus is difficult.
Full Disclosure, while I've played some of the earlier FF games, I've not played FF15, so most of the location and character references were unknown to me.
So, one of the iconic skills in FF15 is the ability to throw a weapon and then teleport to where it lands. This is actually an ability granted by the Soulknife Rogue subclass, which allows you to manifest weapons out of nowhere for single attacks. The ability to teleport with your weapon doesn't come online until level 9, but it's the closest you'll get to replicating the weapon-summoning, warping combat from FF15 without digging into homebrew.
Backstory is backstory regardless of the game. Things with no mechanical impact, which seems to be 95%+ of what you're sharing, can just be ported over directly since it's all fluff. While very setting-specific, it's not game specific at all.
If you want suggestions for class/race features and whatnot, a brief description of how you actually want them to fight or what kind of campaign you're looking to play might be more likely to get you helpful responses.

Unfortunately, the game mechanics of FF15 multiplayer are not as expansive as they are in D&D. However, we both see our characters as taking on a DPS role, although my friend wants Mavis to be more of a mage with martial abilities, whereas I wish Zeke to be more of a martial combatant with magic abilities.
In other words, my friend wants to rely on the overwhelms power of magic, and be competent, but not great at melee combat, and I want to rely on melee combat, but still be component with the use of magic.
Neither of us wants to be healers; we both want to be DPS.
We have both been thinking about becoming warlocks to combine powerful magic with melee.
One thing that we really want to keep though, as its a major part of the combat in FF15, is the ability to warp around the battlefield, and we are really not sure how to do that.
Thanks to TransmorpherDDS for suggesting soulknife as well.
If you want to go Warlock, the best bet is to take the Relentless Hex Invocation. It allows you to use a Bonus Action to teleport within 5 feet of a creature you have marked with the Hex spell or other curse-like ability that Warlocks have access to.
Another class with Warp abilities is the Echo Knight Fighter, which basically allows you to create a "ghost" of yourself that you can swap places with using a Bonus Action.
