Use the same link you would give to your players to join the campaign, it should give you a page where you can either create a character, or choose a created character to join the campaign with.
It is still a bit unintuitive IMO. It would be nice to have a button on the campaign screen that says "Add character" that brings you to the same place as the invite link.

Agreed, it is confusing at first. And that's a great idea!
We are switching from pen and paper to DnDBeyond. I've the Master Tier. I built all 5 characters with the hopes I could assign them to the other players...but it doesn't seem like I can do that after the fact...it seems like instead I have to rebuild the characters from the Create an Unassigned character link. True?

Nope. Once you have a character in a campaign you should be able to click "Unassign" on it. Then, when someone joins the campaign using your join link, they can pick up an unassigned character. :)
Man, it is indicative of poor design that I have to search for and re-read this thread because I couldn't remember how, as the DM, to add an existing character to one of my campaigns. Should be an option in the editing wizard.
Can the players see all the characters in the campaign? Or do I have to wait to add them till they meet them in-game? I don't want to spoil/leak characters

Beginner Player, only played twice, both homebrew. GMd once, it was okay.

If you make the characters you add private before adding them, they will only be able to see the name, class & level.
If i created a character on my own, outside of our campaign, how can i add it to the campaign my friend is running? Or do I need to recreate it within the campaign?

I have a master tier subscription and have created a Campaign and several characters. How do I assign a character to a campaign?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, seems like it should be obvious, but I can't figure out where the option to assign characters to a campaign?

Oh, great! Thanks! Also with the new update, I'm able to assign and let another player claim it. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for!
Glad I could help! :)

Yes. And adding more than one character at a time instead of having to paste the invite link 5 times to add 5 characters to your own campaign.

But how do I assign my own pre-made character to a campaign?
The same way, with the invite link.
Hmm. It says I cannot send a message to myself.
You just copy the invite link, and paste it into your address bar.
Slaps face.
Thank you!
Questions answered. Thanks, all.
