Hello all! I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for the Drizzt Do'Urden books. I have never read any of them, but recently I have become very interested in the Underdark and Drizzt as a character. Is there an ideal place to start? What books would you all recommend?
There are so many novels about Drizzt that it's all a bit overwhelming lol. Also, any recommendations for books centered heavily on the Underdark or its inhabitants would also be appreciated! Outside of official sourcebooks, I have never read a DnD novel so I'm looking to get into them. Thanks!
I literally just found a copy of Drizzt Homeland (the book, not the graphic novel) and read it, and I really enjoyed it. It does give some glimpse into the Underdark, but more specifically the city Drizzt grew up in, Menzoberranzan. I believe it's the first book in that particular series, and it's his origin story, so that would seem like a good place to start!

Personally I would start with the Dark Elf Trilogy (so Homeland, Exile, Sojourn). The Icewind Dale Trilogy is also a good place to start, but imo it feels better starting from when he was a child.
They made Anniversary editions for the first 4 series (Dark Elf trilogy, Icewind Dale trilogy, Legacy of the Drow, Path of Darkness series) so you could try to get any of those. =)
Another trilogy I can reccomend is The Sellswords trilogy, which does not take place in the Underdark, but it follows the Adventures of Artemis Entreri (an assassin Drizzt fought against) and Jarlaxle (a Drow who also has history with Drizzt) they're not good guys though.

Your post reminded me of a picture of the reading order I once got sent
I have not read The Stone of Tymora, or The Cleric Quintet (couldn't find either of them on Amazon), but I also don't care that much about Cadderly Bonaduce.

I really liked the cleric quintet, mostly because of Danica. Cadderly was kind of at the end of his arc in the Drizzt books- he’s a lot cooler when he’s trying to figure out who he is and what magic he has available to him. I found them as ebooks.

Yeah, I found what happened to him in the Ghost King very sad. I would like to read them, but I don't like e-books .__. I also don't have a kindle or anything like that.
I bought the cd of the audio book "One-eyed Jax" and while I enjoyed the story, I hope they release an actual book for it too, cause I remember things I read better than things I hear.
My personal favorite trilogy in the series is the Sellswords Trilogy (Servant of the Shard, Promise of the Witch-King, and Road of the Patriarch). Mostly because it heavily features my two favorite characters in the whole series, Jarlaxle and Artemis Entreri.

I believe the first ones written were the Icewind Dale trilogy. I'd either start there or Homeland.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations! My local library had Homeland so I've picked that up and will be giving it a read. ^>^
