I stepped away from the show, mainly because I was having a hard time keeping up, with the show. But, now I am wanting to get back into it, but I am not sure where a good place would be to hop back into it. The last episode I saw was 79, so I know a lot has happened sense then.
Carric Aquissar, elven wannabe artist in his deconstructionist period (Archfey warlock) Lan Kidogo, mapach archaeologist and treasure hunter (Knowledge cleric) Mardan Ferres, elven private investigator obsessed with that one unsolved murder (Assassin rogue) Xhekhetiel, halfling survivor of a Betrayer Gods cult (Runechild sorcerer/fighter)
I think this happened to a lot of us. Life happens and if you ever fall behind on the 4 hour weekly committment, suddenly it can snowball into a formidable task. Plus, I did not connect with the characters of Bells Hells like I did with Vox Machina or Mighty Nein, so it took longer to get into this arc until the slow burn started escalating and paying off. I'm still catching up from a hospital stay last year. Getting closer...

Totally get that, but for me, at least half the cast has been doing their best work as performers of any of the campaigns, and that's kept me invested all the way through
Ashton in particular is such a perfect punk f***up. I knew people in that scene exactly like them -- heck, I've been in the room when they launched into justifications just like the one he gave Fearne in ep 77...

I've watched campaign 1 start ot finish a couple of times and really enjoy it but campaign 2 was just a brutal slog for me to get through and I view it as their "difficult second album" and campaign 3 has just been a case of watch it if I remember an epsidoe is due out and it is no longer a must watch affair.
My enjoyment of Crit Role has certainly dwindled more and more as their set and battle mats have increased in production value and the weird thing for me is their sound quality seems to have gotten worse since the end of campaign 1 and I seem to hear more of their background chatter which kind of annoys me.

Yep, same. Vox Machina and Mighty Nein managed to slip in before life happened. Bells Hells came after and had that slow burn you mentioned. I hear it is amazing now though. I sure hope to find time for it and catch up one day. I don't do the recap shorts. You miss so much!

I'm mostly with you here. Campaign 1 remains the most enjoyable for me; I liked big parts of Campaign 2 but the show seemed to be doubling down on angst and emotional DRAMA. I did love the mystery with the resurrected character, though.
Campaign 3 has failed to connect with me at all. Surprisingly, it was Marisha's character I liked best (and she was usually the one I liked least in the earlier campaigns) but I HATED Fresh Cut Grass and simply found the other characters boring. Between the long shills for CR merch and what often feels like pseudo therapy, the show IMNSHO feels incredibly indulgent at this point. When there's action and actual plot happening, the show can be good. I've just lost patience with what feels like very long stretches of emo improv acting.

Beacon -- CR's new streaming service -- does offer abridged versions of campaign 3 episodes, but they're only up to episode 40 so far
Honestly, C3 has been (Jester voice) A LOT, you guys. I would just jump back in where you left off if you don't want to use the recaps to catch up
Active characters:
Carric Aquissar, elven wannabe artist in his deconstructionist period (Archfey warlock)
Lan Kidogo, mapach archaeologist and treasure hunter (Knowledge cleric)
Mardan Ferres, elven private investigator obsessed with that one unsolved murder (Assassin rogue)
Xhekhetiel, halfling survivor of a Betrayer Gods cult (Runechild sorcerer/fighter)
I'm gonna try and restart, I got really side tracked by work so I'm gonna start back on c3e1

Oh ya, I forgot about the recaps. I will check out the Beacon as well, thank you.
