Hi - new user of dndbeyond here. Setting up my characters, I noticed the fancy "Location" column for equipment. How do I use it? I don't see an any way to put rations in the backpack, for example. Any help?
So is there any way that I can differentiate where some of my equipment is stored? I.e., in my backpack versus my belt pouch versus my Bag of Holding versus kept at home?

Not as of now, this is still in development if I recall correctly. You could, (for items in Bag of Holding or at home) use the customise option to change their name and weight to reflect their location, but there is no simple way as of now.
An updated container/inventory system is in the works, which allow awesome things like shared party inventories (carts, castles etc) as well as functional bags of holding.
Is there a place where I can see what is upcoming and/or patch notes? There's a forum thread for what I think this is, but it's filled with non-developer posts and difficult to find patch note information.
I see this was posted 2018-10-05 (over a year ago) .. is there an update?
You know there are rules against posting in threads that have been inactive for over 6 months, right? And yes there is an update. Containers and inventory revamp is on the agenda as a possible goal for 2020 (they don't do specific or guaranteed dates until things are basically done, so spring 2021 at latest, probably).
no did not know about "rules .." why do they not simply delete the thread?
thank you for the update.

I think it's a generalization for body location. Weapon, Body, Feet,... for gear that you equip like armor.

I do wonder why there is no autolock for old threads though.
