but having all the tools doesn'T mean its VTT. the one thing i hate about people requiring VTT is that they wanna have everything on the same screen. thats never gonna be like a table where you get unlimited spacing. a screen will always be limited to your TV resolution. so yeah... for my part having the tools here is all i require. having to press alt+tab or just side swipping is enough for me on my tablet.
the dice will be neat, but i really would hope they concentrate more ont he campaign management instead of trying to push VTT further. i really wish i could have a pre-formatted adventure page to which i could add stuff and create my own adventures. because i really like how the adventures are formatted here.

An adventure page would only further VTT compatibility. I have no need or desire for a VTT myself. I don’t even use minis preferring Theater of the Mind, so for me a VTT kind of ruins D&D. But if the Character sheet and homebrew revamps lead to one, then I still get what I want out of it, and others can have their VTT too.
Thanks for sharing the link to the progress on their projects. The desire for VTT for me is really to keep me using a single platform. I don't like having Fantasy grounds + Roll20 + dndbeyond for my D&D experience. If there is one place where I can run a campaign, characters, encounters, etc. form a single site (even if i have multiple pages open), then that makes for a great experience for me. having 3 displays helps. i cannot imagine trying to run from a phone or tablet only. Is the APP / Mobile experience what their end goal is?

I pretty much exclusively use my phone/tablet, but we play exclusively theater of the mind, so it’s not a problem for me.
so what your saying is... i want to have a placeholder on my account and be able to log into it from any other applications i have made for myself !

Campaign management and VTT are two very different things though. Campaign management is like having all informations in one place, while VTT is about having a virtual table where you cna have informations, maps, images and the likes. of course adding campaign management brings us closer to VTT. thats the goal be as close to a true table top experience one can get. but campaign management is to be able to actually have your campaign in one place, and thats not having just a simple 3 rich text box. though i'm glad they switched it from textbox to rich text box back when we asked it, that was fine for a moment because we could format our text now. but that was like 3 years ago now. one could of thought that in 3 years they'd be done with the small things...
for now, i have a one drive, facebook and beyond to run my campaigns. as well as discord for now thanks to covid-19. all i really want is a single place to put all my D&D stuff. i got documents well formatted and well organised, i don't want to just put it all in the same boxes. being able to put them into separate files is what i seek. i don't think thats really hard to do on their servers. but i think they are not allowing it just because of hard drive storage problems. i don't know why they are really not allowing us to upload certain documents, even if its just 5 megas worth of documents per accounts, thats already enough for any text documents we want. sure i also like to draw stuff and thus i make maps for my players i make images of npcs and monsters i have created. the later being already addressed since i can upload photos to my monsters. but really all these is the only thing i want, that is campaign management for me.
a battle map with tokens and the likes is very very very far away from campaign management if you ask me, i think people VTT is that only. for many people a VTT is only the ability to run video game like tactical combat. and thats a real understatement at it. that's not what VTT is all about.
by the way, i also use theater of the mind. i do use my minis and 3d models to show my players stuff once in a while, but it takes too much time to settle and i'm not the kind who likes using pencils and eradsres to show something by drawing a mediocre drawing. i preffer to paint it in their head directly. that said when i have time to draw, i do draw things of importance.

Grateful for the way DnDBeyond works, thanks for sharing! I'd love to see the VTT functionality be prioritized. Right after the dice roller, its the only thing that is causing us to have to use another platform to play.

Have you checked out Beyond20 Chrome extension? It's pretty great if you use Roll20.

then i'd be happy to understand what you mean then. let's say you have the rights to log in from outside sources and use them, what would you like to do with it ?

....Is there anyone there really playing using DnDBeyond in the Head of Development Staff?
My answer is, *NO*. Otherwise all the basic features we ask since 2 years ago would at least appear in the roadmap.
I get that you're disappointed - we all wish that every feature was already developed!
You're very wrong with that deduction though - the D&D Beyond team are all major D&D fans, with BadEye being one of the most keen of all - they regularly play D&D, using the D&D Beyond site, so please don't imagine that you're dealing with some faceless, corporate entity here. I've met them personally and played D&D with them, so there's no assumptions here on my part.
D&D Beyond only exists because of Badeye's passion for D&D and the vision of what could be created for the D&D community. Let's not forget the talented and dedicated team members that actually make the site happen.
I can guarantee you that for every time you are disappointed that a certain feature hasn't arrived yet, Badeye has looked at what can be accomplished, had the statistics analysed on what there is the greatest demand for (there are multiple data feedback routes) and prioritised accordingly, to deliver the best possible product.
I know that it's difficult when you look at the possibilities of where D&D Beyond could get to, but it will get there and these features? They will be better and more comprehensive than you could expect.
I wish the vtt was up and running right now. Having multiple screens open slows my laptop down. Keep up the great work.
Really? 5e is selling like crazy - it's just in it's prime. It'll be years yet.
3e was selling like crazy and it only held for 6 years. From 2001 to 2007. It currently has the record of longest running edition from wizard of the coast. mind you TSR second edition lasted longer due to company not doing anything with it for quite some times.
its normal for people to wonder about that one. 6 years is a long time and 5e is 6 years old right now. that is if you count from beta which is was in 2014. the fact they started releasing much more books in the last 2 years and the fact they are releasing a lot of new settings all of a sudden. - Exandria, Eberron, Theros, Ravnica that tells us that either they have changed their gears because it was getting laste to release such stuff. or that they expect a new edition sooner then later. even though nobody has any dates. All conjectures at this point. so we really really don't know at this point.
i do believe 5e is smashing all records of d&d right now. but after 6 years of it going strong... its normal for people to wonder if 6e isn't already in the pipeline even if they don't say yes. I wouldn't be surprised to see mike mearl already talking about what could change from 5e to make it better. he already told us long ago that bonus action is what he would remove entirely from the game if he did 6e. that alone prooved at least one person thinks about the future and 6e. but that doesn't say in any way or shape that its coming soon or not.
my personnal opinion... i'm giving 5e another 3-4 years, after that 6e is coming for sure. but that is optimistic for me. its been going for 6 long years now... of course the lot of people in there are thinking about 6e. thats my opinion on it.

Yep. It says Completed (Last ~30 Days), but most of those entries are from last year, not last month. Minor issue.

I have! Yes we use Roll20 right now during quarantine, and the Beyond20 extension has been so very helpful.
I'd love to support DnDBeyond more by exclusively using them to play in the future. Really the VTT is the only missing piece at this point.

"he rights to log in from outside sources and use them", nothing of the kind was requested. It is obvious you have no idea what an API does.
Beyond 20 has been amazing! I have been using that in my current game on Roll20

Is 6th edition coming out soon?
Looking forward to 6E, hopefully by Fall 2021.
Hoping for 4E balance, faster combat, and mechanics separated from character themes.
No
