I am not sure if this is supposed to go here, but I noticed in the feature requests that someone wanted to know if dndbyound was ever going to roll out its own virtual table top similar to fantasy ground or roll20. I also noticed that it was marked as being planned, yet I have not seen any updates on when that will be happening since this was about two years back. I am wondering where you guys are with this on the road map since I would love to see what you guys will do with it given the amazing thing you have done so far. Anyways any info would be cool and keep rocking guys.
Obviously only making an educated guess, but given its placement on the roadmap and everything in front of it, I wouldn't expect to see something like a virtual tabletop before 2021. But maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised.

This is roughly what I expect, if ever. I think there are still lots of reasons why it might not happen. I hope it does, though. Since overall, I think DDB is significantly more polished as a site than others I've tried; so I think they'd handle it well if they do it.

I'll be honest I don't really want to see a DnD Beyond virtual tabletop. I would much rather see a tool that allows you to overlay the tools on the existing virtual tabletops I don't see that niche needs another product especially one that only works with one RPG system. This seems like a win win for everyone involved. I would much rather seen DnD beyond expand to making it easier to homebrew things so someone could fairly easily make minor tweaks to existing products to fit your table, making it easier to create personal versions of third party products.
One of the biggest disadvantages I see to DnDBeyond is its lack of support for 3rd party products and current complexity of homebrew and the inability to make certain types of homebrew.

You can make any homebrew you want, which isn't so complicated when you know the system, the issue is sharing it. I'm 100% all for adding any homebrew, so if you want I can help you build whatever it is you're wanting so that you're able to use the content you want?
I believe it is planned, but waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down the list. As you may have noticed with the implementation of the Articifer, full classes can be a lot more complicated even for those who created the tools, so making it available for us users is going to be problematic at least (as you can literally create any mechanic you want for the class - how do you code for that?)
I think a big problem with overlaying the tools from dndbeyond onto other virtual tabletops is both that other VTTs are vendors of WotC stuff, so they don't want you to buy it somewhere else and use it, and that the other VTTs are either web based and lack a lot of ease of use functionality (roll 20) or they have the functionality but require a steep learning curve to setup for the average user (fantasy grounds.)

Look at Foundry VTT, which is a pretty open tabletop software with no ties to anything (yet?). There's a chrome extension that allows players to roll their checks directly from their character's D&D Beyond sheet into the software and I am working on bringing the awesomeness of D&D Beyond into Foundry via another Chrome extension, too. So while this is far from perfect, it works real good already.
Is it cross platform that my players can use it on android/ios/windows/linux? My players are all over and having a VTT that i can load maps on as the DM and allow them to control thier own characters would be great, but they use mobile phones/tablets while I use my PC.

I just want to tell everyone "happy gaming" and actually mean it. Whatever your game is, just have fun with it, it is after all, just a game.
It is indeed crossplatform, since it runs in a webbrowser and Foundry has all the features you are listing, but one: There is no support for mobile devices, so they would need a computer to really use Foundry. You can connect to it using a phone, but it is just not optimized for it and all the controls are not working properly, so Foundry is definitely not a solution for you :-/
As nice as the projected outlook appears, most of the things on it are things that I expected to be present at launch or soon thereafter. It's been several years and I still cannot use my mobile app to create characters, only to have books I don't want crammed down my throat and read a compendium version of the materials I have purchased.
My only real use for the entire site is the character builder. I would much rather have a mobile version that wasn't tied to an internet connection, especially for the amount of money a subscription costs. PDF files for characters is hardly worth the money spent, but I continue to support the site for reasons I no longer remember.
I mean no insult, and I am proud of everything you guys have done, make no mistake. Progression is far too slow, however, and I honestly regret having spent so much on digital books instead of buying physical copies.

I'm sure you mean desired to be present at launch, since if you expected it, you really weren't paying attention to the fact that at launch it was pretty clearly stated that D&D Beyond was basically a web-based product, and that mobile stuff might come along as it made sense for them to do so. I'd like to have seen mobile character sheets sooner, but honestly, the web version is very mobile friendly by design, so I never much understood the complaints, except for those few folks who play D&D when camping or elsewhere with no wifi/signal.
While i agree with your assertion that the web app works great. I also have to say that beyond is quite slow in comparision to other companies who rolled all the tools in a single year. While they may say roll20 and fantasy ground are already functionnal toolsets. They are wrong in thinking they took many years. Both of them had actually developped both tools in less then 2 years. And when asked about for 5e they were completely integrated in a single week. And both companies have less employees then beyond has.
I have to agree that in the 2 years this has been going... Things have advanced quite slow with months waiting for single bug fixes. Ive seen games with far less problems and much more updates. That says a lot considering games have thousand more routines then a web apps.
Im thinking the beyond team are probably working on other projects as well and are not exclusively beyond designers. Which could explain the lagging.
That said im pretty happy with the way the site works. Just hopping wed have more control over our homebrews though.... Got a few homebrews of my own and my pages are too cluttered.

I don't get how that one person can say that none of the player/DM requested stuff is on the roadmap. Everything, on there, is pretty much what we have all been wanting. You only have to read the forum posts from people asking for features, or saying that they wish certain features were available, to see that.
I am quite pleased with the stuff that is part of both the short term and long term plan, and I don't understand how that guy can say its all just marketing.

That is in line with current web dev standards - why create a duplicate feature in the form of an online-app based and offline-app based version of the same thing? Especially when the online version has clearly been designed and developed with mobile users in mind? Although I agree it would have been better if beyond was developed with a ubiquitous mobile-first model in mind, there might well have been reasons as to why it was not. Or maybe it was, and there were reasons why it just wasn't possible or practical to implement at the time of launch.

Published Subclasses
Is there any word on if we will ever be able to create homebrew base classes? i would love to be able to play around with stuff like that.

kind of punk rock
This post is good and is so awesome.
Function over form. Aesthetics should only be considered once it is mostly in place. Then the marketing dept. may be consulted.

There are open source VTT that are not selling anything.

Yeah. Concerned too much to marketing and too little to dev.
