(I personally think the random element keeps it fairer. That way you don’t have a blade singer, moon druid and sorcadin on one team all the time just steamrolling everyone.)

((Yes... but also I don't think you'll have a blade singer, moon druid and sorcadin on one team all the time because of how leveling works. Maybe we should just ask the DM running the match you are joining that "Can I be in a team with X" and the DM can just say, "No, it's going to be random this time." Honestly, if people just team-up in character, it could lead to fun moments. We just have to trust people to not team up because "Our characters have similar interests and are good friends and it would be in character and cool for them to team up this time." and not for, "Party Comp!". ))
On pre-set teams: I have run matches where the teams were agreed upon by the players present on both sides. However, I know this would produce unimaginable potential if it were allowed to be an ongoing thing.
That said, you and Baral, by chance, will fight together in the next battle.
Here's an example of the potential power available to a duet:
(@Me_link: It is. Though keep in mind that you will have to start over fresh if you decide to re-roll again after one has leveled up past 3/starting level.)

(it is still level 3 anyway)
(Then you're all good. :D)
(@RazorDawn: What is the question in reference to/directed at? If in regards to the whole team thing then no. If its in regards to being 'Human' bladesinger, which is restricted to elves, then... up to the DM for the match regarding doing so in the middle of a match. But certainly after which, you would have to change either the race, giving up the early feat and etc. or the subclass.)

(@Orileo: I was wondering that if I would have to change my character if I leveled up after the match, since I wanted to team with Squeegee. Also, I can’t play a “Human” Bladesinger? Is the Coliseum located in the Forgotten Realms? LordShadowthorn gave me the okay, but if I have to change I’m okay with doing so).

He go to the arena but doesn’t see that the gates are already closed and he run full speed into the gates and falls on his back
He then goes up to the stands or whatever is there and takes a short rest (and using hit dice regains all hp) (also gets ki back)
It is according to BDaddly
(I knew that the question was asked previously, just couldn’t quite remember the answer apparently. I’d personally be against pre-made teams though.)

((I don't remember the ruling either but personally, I like the idea of being able to team up with friends. Sounds like a fun thing to have))

(My answer in PM wasn't so simple.)
(The above example is one reason why teams are not normally permitted.)
