Malichi walks over to Amelia and sits down beside her.
"Hi Amelia. I don't mean to barge in on your private time or anything. It's just that I've noticed you don't use ranged weapons. I know it's none of my business but I wanted to give you this"
He hands her a sling and a small bag of shot. "Your style of fighting seems to be up close but I've always found this to be a great back-up weapon. Weight and cost are trivial and you never know when it might come in handy"
Overhearing you, Amos responds, "The stasis field appears to be in permanent flux. Basically, the items will grow or shrink continually to achieve the perfect size for their current owner, even if that owner changes size. 'Tis an unusual enchantment, but not unheard of in certain magic clothing and armors. Probably not originally intended fer folks quite yer size, but should still work."
Amelia hesitates. "Thing is, I didn't exactly get these," she gestures to her black shortswords, "the normal way. Someone gave them to me. And I'm not sure if she'll take kindly to me using anything else."
"That lapis lazuli spell gem is very interesting... Cerlinde, you mentioned both the spell gems, would you be alright if i took one? I know you asked about them first so I wouldn't want to take your treasure, especially since I wasn't so helpful in the battle in which we obtained it." Zithers is mainly interested in resting, and he did get the amulet earlier in this exploration, so he is fine to let the others dole out the items as they wish.
"Amos, I would like to know about that contraption you mentioned finding, when you get the chance," Zithers says, recalling what Amos said a while back in the spider queen's den about finding something "interesting"
Amos smiles gently at Amelia. "I thinks I hears a story there, my friend. If'n yer ever wantin' to talk about it, I'd love to hear it. But no pressure, 'n no judgment here. Would ye mind if I examined yer own blades?"
He winks at Cerlinde, "Well, I does have a spell or two up me sleeve, but ye looks like yer gettin' to be pretty familiar with the Weave, yerself. I imagines ye could show me a thing or three. From the looks o' that spider queen's den, ye has some fire and backbone under that bookish exterior."
"Please, friends, tell me the story of yer battles with the queen 'n her minions. I likes a good tale. And Zithers, I'll show ye that surprise tomorrow after ye have rested. I thinks it could be quite useful to ye."
As you recount your adventures, he nods appreciatively, and howls with laughter at the appropriate moments, and claps when decisive points in the battle are described. Zensiro, you also notice that Amos' gaze keeps flitting back to Dyumi, with a bemused look on his face.
For dinner, he invites you once again back to his kitchen area, where a large turnip has been slow-roasted, and he has made some berry tarts for afterwards. Nod and Chauncey are both there as well, along with Paul and Ringo the fire beetles (previously known as Wynken and Blynken).
The meal is satisfying, although entirely vegetarian. Afterwards, Amos returns to his chair with a pipe and some pipe-weed. (You are welcome to converse with him and each other more if desired, or you can now take a long rest in the guest quarters.)
Zensiro thoroughly enjoys the meal and praises Amos' culinary skills, as his people, the Llewyrr, are vegetarians. He listens to the stories being told, participating at what he feels are appropriate intervals, but never certain if he is hitting the right cadence with these more gregarious folks. He notes Amelia's reference to her unusual blades and wonders if his own scimitar might have something in common with hers. Observing Amos' unusual attention to Dyumi, he ponders what exactly is it about this firbolg that seems a bit off and why would it be amusing? Then, letting his mind drift a bit, Zensiro contemplates ways that he might be able to use the magical coin he's acquired without losing it. Drilling a hole through the coin, such that one might affix a string to it, would surely damage the enchantment. Securely wrapping the exteriour of it with string might interfere with its resonance, thus presenting misleading information regarding the depth to which it's fallen. There must be some way of achieving this ...
After a bit more drifting in and out of his own thoughts and the conversation, Zensiro retires to the guest quarters to enter his trance.
(Refer to previous post, retconned to occur now, for actions prior to trance. Also, OOC, I DM'd for Dyumi so I know what's up, but Zensiro most certainly does not! :-)
Cerlinde blushes a bit at being praised for her abilities in combat. It wasn’t that long ago that she had only read about fighting, yet now she was getting quite used to it. She enjoys the meal and the storytelling as well, using prestidigitation and minor illusion cantrips to help illustrate the tale.
she will enter her meditation as I mentioned before.
The brigganock gets a serious look when Amelia offers him her weapons. He does not reach for them. "Friend Amelia, sometimes by examinin' a weapon, I cans understand a thing er two 'bout the smith what created it. I was thinkin' if I understood that, I mights be able ta help ye find a little peace. But do not feel pressured to do this, it must be of yer own free will. Me hospitality and me help comes with absolutely no strings."
Regardless of what Amelia chooses to do [can retcon later depending on your choice], after a while, you all retire to some simple but comfortable sleeping quarters, containing grass mats which have somehow been woven so that they aren't itchy at all, and some flower-petals sewn together with non-sticky silk for coverings, that you suspect Erkel may have made out of gratitude. You all pass a peaceful long rest, secure in the knowledge that no threat can reach you here, dreaming or not as you wish.
The next "morning" (difficult to say for sure as you've all been underground for at least a day), you awake to the smell of some oatmeal sweetened with berries and honey, and cold water with a mint leaf floating in the large vessel, along with warm cider in a kettle near the fire.
Once you are refreshed, Amos is clearly excited to show you his find, which turns out to be familiar to you. It is a 20 foot high, 10 foot wide and 30 foot long metal tube, with the words "Erastus' Famous Auto-gardener and Gopher Eliminator" carefully stenciled along both sides. Several of you recoil with flashbacks of a prior dangerous encounter, but the contraption seems perfectly docile.
"I founds this in the garden, but I couldn't 'ave it hurtin' me friends, so I... er.... 'borrowed' it and made a few adjustments. Now, it's mostly hollow inside except fer the propulsion and the rudder. No more nasty blades."
From the looks of it, the Auto-gardener would have the capacity to fit all of you and all of your gear, including the large items in it. When Amos shows you the interior, the clockwork gears inside controlled by a rudder than can be set to "manual" or "automatic", you are amazed by the concept of a wagon that can move without being pulled by any animal, and that can be steered like a ship.
"It's too small fer me, really, but Paul and Ringo 'elped fix'er up. In fact, they did all the hard parts,"Amos says, causing the nearby beetles to blush a fiery red. "Anyways, it be just a curiosity to me, but might be truly helpful to ye, if'n ye wants it."
Amos takes Malichi aside, and speaks to him in a low voice. "Friend, I had a dream last night, and I thinks it mights be a message fer ye. From a mutual friend." Then, seeing the puzzled look on the tiefling's face, he chuckles and clarifies, "From Tymora."
He also slips a folded note to Cerlinde, sealed with wax and labelled "For me elven friends", (in Elvish), winking and nodding in the direction of Zensiro.
Dyumi he presents with a walking cane and a tiny ear-horn, which the brigganock seems to find riotously funny for some reason.
Amelia [depends on what she decides to do or say in earlier post]
and lastly he regards Zithers with affection, and gifts him a deep-red wishstone, saying "For your friend, Mr. XrXzzn."
At the sight of the wishstone, Zithers gets a glint in his eye and grins. He is obviously excited about this and thanks Amos many times over, saying Mr XrXzzn would greatly appreciate it. He is also especially interested in this automatic wagon. "A mechanical horse, essentially. This is amazing! We can just coast past the boring bits and get right to where we need in the tunnels!" He puts on a red tinted pair of spectacles and starts chattering excitedly at himself or some unseen entity(?) until the party moves on or if someone talks to him.

Dyumi glares at the laughing braggandock and tries his best to appear offended, although he is clearly stifling a smirk himself.
"What's the meaning of this! I may be old, but I am NOT deaf and crippled yet! Hmph!"
Drawing his already comically large hood over his face even further, he picks up the silver pin, spins around and sprints out of the area as fast as he can.
A minute or two later, he returns with a sheepish grin on his face.
"Apologies for the outburst, um.. er.. that cider smells nice, may I have a cup?"

Amelia looks up. "Yeah, but see, here's my question. Do they enlarge to fit me now, or me when I'm five feet tall instead of about an inch?"
Malichi walks over to Amelia and sits down beside her.

(The science nerd hidden somewhere in me doesn't know whether to laugh or cry at my using 'stasis' and 'flux' in that way in the same sentence.)
(Hah! Your use of dilithium and 1.2 gigawatts also got a laugh out of me)
