Karney attacks the undead warrior using his longsword while protecting himself behind his shield.
Attack: 22
The undead warrior clumsily looks at the party...it has been reduced to bones in armour and it carries a short sword in its hand. You hit it right at a gash in its breastplate. Roll your hit dice to decide damage.

OOC: I'll wait until the results of previous attacks are resolved before I declare my action, but I'm wondering if we are using the optional flanking rule in this game (i.e. attack with advantage if in melee with an opponent already in melee with another friendly on opposite side)?

The attack does 5 damage and the monster's ribs break.
This was the first combat.....if there are some problems please post them. We will soon scale to higher leveled monsters which will increase the difficulty as well as fun. Side quests, challenges and loots will soon start coming your way. There is only one more challenge left and the tutorial will be completed. After that some major changes will take place as the party sets of into the unexplored parts of the dungeon...
Ooc: I do have a question about the rolls after an attack roll exceeds AC. Why are we doing them? When an attack roll meets or exceeds the targets AC, that's a successful hit. There shouldn't need to be any further rolls after that, unless there's an additional condition inflicted by the attack.
Ooc: I, too, am confused about the additional rolls. I have seen an additional die used after a natural 1 to see if something bad happens, but not after every roll. Maybe if someone took the dodge action?

If there's a house rule that we're using, that's totally cool. I'm not try to criticize, just understand.
