(Several questions about the women, are they attractive, are they locals that Bayard has seen around the last few days, and finally does insight 22 tell Bayard anything about their intentions?)
“Do you or this Dreslis have proof that someone in the southern part of the village are aiding these poachers? Not too many of the longshoreman actually own boats. Most don’t have the money to purchase one and don’t have the time to build one themselves.” When you mention the name “Dreslis” you can see that Koris is searching his mind for someone with that name, but, ultimately doesn’t appear to know who Dreslis is.
“If someone in Baron Manzar’s part of town is violating the treaty between the fisherfolk and the bullywugs, I can take care of this manner. But, I will need proof that one of the longshoremen is actually the responsible individual.”
"We came here as a professional courtesy. Your lack of knowledge about this is concerning to me. Who do you employ to keep you abreast of these types of matters? If the northern side of town figures out someone from the southern end is helping poachers you are going to have a big problem. If I find those responsible I will deal with it. I just want your agreement that I can handle this without reprisal from you.", Allorian says this all in a neutral tone, stating facts but not threats.
"Now, on to our real business. My family, House Silverfin, is aware of the pirates. It is the reason that I am here. Has Baron Manzar allocated any resources to this issue yet?" Allorian will make a gesture indicating that his last statement is about gold. "Hunting pirates isn't cheap."
Caliban is taken in by the attention of a woman and is beaming a smile larger than normal as he blushes a little, not sure what to do he sits there looking goofy.
OOC Bayard has never seen these women before, and they are attractive. From Bayard's experience as a sailor, the women's interest is probably professional in nature.
IC "If it is one of the longshoremen that is causing problems, I will handle it once I have evidence and a name. I have your accusations and no proof, plus a name I've never heard of before. If Rhasor thinks it is an issue with the people under my stead, he will let me know.
As far as the pirates, I don't have the funds to hire anyone to go after them. That is a manner for the Duke, but, I'm sure there are a number of families that would pay a handsome reward if the pirates are dealt with. And, finding out where they are based out of might be enough to get the Duke to send Marines out to take care of them."
In the tavern, the women are engaging in small talk, with Bayard being asked how long he has been in the village, while the woman on Caliban's lap is asking him if he grew up in Alderey.
Bayard grins and wraps an arm around her, "Not long enough, apparently, how else could I have missed a beauty such as yourself? So, my dark haired lass, name's Bayard, chosen of Valkur, what can I call you and where have you been hiding?"
Xarrut heaves himself up out of his chair with a sigh.
”I think that’s enough then. Thank you for all of your... help.”
Xarrut nods to Allorian to check he’s ready to leave.
As soon as Xarrut nods, Allorian just stands up and walks out. Once they are outside the room, not worrying if he is even out of earshot Allorian says "well he's either ill-informed or a liar. Which are you betting on?"
After they are outside, "Should we keep an eye on the house to see if he runs off to inform anyone of our visit?"
“Too obvious. And with how the neighbors spoke for him, I doubt it’s him. More likely an independent or fool. Let’s see about someone who maybe doesn’t jump to his defense. He says there aren’t any boats, but let’s see for ourselves.”
Koris simply nods as Allorian and Xarrut get up and leave. The servant who opened the door is waiting for them in the hallway and shows the two of you out.
The woman sitting on Bayard’s lap responds “I am Lefevre, though you can call me Leffy. We haven’t been hiding anywhere, but, where initially brought to this village to play for a party of nobles on a ship south of here. But, they were not the welcoming party we’d thought they’d be. So, after we’d fulfilled our contract, we came here to see what kind of fun we could have while waiting for a ship out of here.”
To Caliban, the woman replies “Ah, Gillesburg. I’ve never had the chance to visit that city. Are the men there all as handsome as you?”
Bayard gives her a big grin, “Their loss is our win. Why don’t you tell me about these no-fun nobles and who brought you here while we have a few drinks, then we can see just how much fun we can have?” He’ll signal to the bartender, “Another round here, please?”
"Well Xarrut, should we go find the others and make plans for the morning? We can head south of town and if we see anything we can sail past and backtrack on foot. Talking to that guy made me want a drink."
"Well Xarrut, should we go find the others and make plans for the morning? We can head south of town and if we see anything we can sail past and backtrack on foot. Talking to that guy made me want a drink."
Leffy responds “There were five of them, seven if you count the one guys' servants.” Turning to the woman on Caliban lap she asks “Sonary, what was the rich guy who owned the boat. Isn’t he like a Baron or somethin’ “
Sonary turns and answers “He is an Earl, his father is the Duke.”
“Yea, so they invited us to their boat for a big party, but, the Earl was upset because his best buddy was killed by a bullyrot, bullyrug, or somethin’ like that. The other guys kept trying to cheer him up, and offering him this expensive drug they had, but, when he took it, he just got mean. They offered us some of the drug, but, it smelled nasty. No way was I tastin’ somethin’ that smelled that bad. The Earl broke Brasel’s favorite lyre (she nods to the minstrel who appears to be warming up for another set of songs), which is when we began to make plans to get outta there. One of the other men, Dresel, or somptin’ like that gave us a big purse and told us to forget we’d been there. So, we left, and here we are.”
Sonary in the mean time is talking to Caliban “Not only handsome, but, modest to boot. So, how are you trying to make the world a better place.”
At this point, Brasel starts playing again, and Xarrut and Allorian walk back into the tavern.
Bayard nods and smiles again, “Well, as I said, their loss is our delightful gain! So, miss luscious Leffy, what does it take to keep you entertained and having fun? Have you ever partied with a cleric before?” As he asks the second question, he casts thaumaturgy to create the sound of a crack of thunder behind her.

I think we’re heading up and down the ocean side of town looking for anyone with a boat that might be our target.

We have a ride tomorrow morning down the coast so no need to spend much time on it. I think it was Brue’s father.

“Dear lord, you bunch of... hedonists.” Xarrut sighs in exasperation and heads for the bar.
