RELEASE NOTES
Dungeons of Drakkenheim is a fantastic adventure set in a gothic renaissance ruined city. The campaign is designed with four player characters in mind, so adjust accordingly for smaller or larger groups. You can play Drakkenheim as a series of loosely-connected exploration quests or an unpredictable narrative filled with faction conflict. This campaign will challenge characters from 1st to 13th level.
Dungeons of Drakkenheim is published by the Dungeon Dudes and Ghostfire Gaming.
This title is also supported within our Maps tool!

ENABLING CONTENT FOR YOUR CHARACTER
To use content from Dungeons of Drakkenheim in the character builder, you will need to set the character preferences to include the Dungeons of Drakkenheim source category (see the .gif below).
CHARACTER OPTIONS: BACKGROUNDS
Prerequisites
The Continental Nobility and Mageborn both have a prerequisite which only allows characters of a specific class to select the background. We’re currently unable to enforce this prerequisite.
Features
All character backgrounds require a feature (Noble Confidence, Bookworm, Guided by Faith, Makeshift Meals, Detail-Oriented). We’re currently unable to support these features.
CHARACTER OPTIONS: MAGIC ITEMS
Actions on Magic Items. Some of the new magic items grant specific actions as part of their magic. D&D Beyond doesn’t currently support the ability to attach actions directly to magic items; we have included charges and associated spells where appropriate, but in the case that an item’s functionality is otherwise text-only, we recommend creating Custom Actions on the character sheet to represent those items.
Crown of Westemär. In order to attune to the Crown of Westemär players must perform a special ceremony which requires six other characters attuned to the different Seals of Drakkenheim. We’re unable to enforce this as a requirement for attuning to the Crown of Westemär.
Flame Lance. This magic item allows players to cast burning hands at higher levels by expending extra charges. This is currently unsupported.
Spellcasting Modifier and Multiclassing. Some of the new magic items grant the ability to cast spells using the player’s spellcasting modifier/saving throw. Please note that these magic items will only show the highest spellcasting modifier/DC - even if a character has multiple spellcasting ability scores.
Seals of Drakkenheim & Relics of Saint Vitruvio. When a character is attuned to three Seals of Drakkenheim or three Relics of Saint Vitruvio they are granted additional abilities. This is currently unsupported.
Chancellor’s Crest and Steward’s Seal. These magic items allow the player to choose between their Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma score for the spellcasting ability used when casting spells from these magic items. We are currently unable to let you choose the preferred ability score for magic items.
CHARACTER OPTIONS: SPELLS
Contaminated Spells. Some of the new spells include the "contaminated" descriptor beside their school of magic. These have been tagged as "Contaminated" to help you find them easily when searching throughout the site.
Researching New Spells and Secret Spells. Several new and preexisting spells take advantage of Dungeons of Drakkenheim’s learning new spells system. We’re currently unable to enforce the prerequisites for learning and using these spells.
CONTAMINATION
Dungeons of Drakkenheim introduces a new condition called contamination and additional rules in Appendix C. We’re currently unable to support the effects of contamination such as mutations.
DELERIUM
Dungeons of Drakkenheim introduces a potent magical component called delerium, which can be added directly to player’s character sheets as an equippable item. Delerium and some new magic items can also trigger arcane anomalies. We’re currently unable to support the effects of arcane anomalies, but for ease of reference, the arcane anomaly table has been added directly to the delerium itself and with links to the arcane anomaly table within the magic item description.
Hey there! Just got my hands on the Delerium-Forged Blade from the book, and I must say, it's a seriously cool magic item! 👌 However, I couldn't help but notice that the part about using the spellcasting ability modifier for attack and damage rolls is a bit confusing and especially for newer players. it does not work on your sheet automatically and therefore had to put it in manually.
It would be fantastic if there could be an auto-apply feature to the character sheet for items like this, or even better, a toggle option similar to what Hexblade Warlock have. This would streamline the process and save newer players from potential confusion. New players might not even notice that it doesn't work, since they used to that almost everthing work automatically on dnd Beyond . Making it more user-friendly will undoubtedly enhance the overall gaming experience with this and future awesome weapons! 🎲
Try this one. The Amulet has an entry in the Basic Rules as well as in IDRorF. The one in the Basic Rules is slightly less detailed (eg. it doesn't contain an image) but all the basic information is the same.
"There might yet be a heaven, but it isn't going to be 'perfect', and we're going to have to build it ourselves." - Philhellenes, Science Saved My Soul
There are errors in the original book which the DDB version corrects. Here are a few off the top of my memory:
Result 16 on the Lucky Finds random loot table is entirely missing in the book. DDB lists a restorative ointment at result 16, and expands the ‘nothing’ result from 1-7 to 1-8.
The DCs for finding Delerium have changes from the book. In the book, the text gives a DC of 18 with a bonus success for a 23+. The accompanying table lists a DC of 15 for the outer city and a 20 for the inner city. The DDB version omits the text and says to look at the table.
The Mageborn background allows the character to make one scroll per day, practically for free. The DDB version adds that the scroll crumbles after 24 hours.
So DDB apparently has some room to correct things when there are mechanical issues, but when it’s just a basic English mistake, they’re unable? Or is it more likely that the Dungeon Dudes gave DDB a few corrections to implement, but forgot some others? It took over a year, but they did finally correct two of the math mistakes in the pregens for Dragons of Stormwreck Isle, so post-publish updates are possible. I read and submitted edits for Drakkenheim’s Alpha document (most of which were instances of the wrong its/it’s), but I was busy with a few other things at the time, so I didn’t get to the latter chapters and appendices. It’s a common enough mistake (even auto-incorrect does it) but if WotC wants to promote D&D as an afterschool program, it may be worth collecting such typos and contacting the authors about revisions.

Not that I can find, but I’ll be downloading a fresh copy of the PDF on Backerkit in a few days to check. Last year, on the Dungeon Dudes Discord, I asked about a 1.2 version of the PDF to correct errors. Monte said he was collecting error reports for a future update, but nothing has come of it until now, on DDB. I reported some, including the four errors in this thread and another that had to do with a couple broken bookmarks in the PDF. I have since left the Discord because it was a Patreon feature, and theirs was one I had to cull. I am about done with running the campaign now anyway, and I implemented my own fixes over a year ago.

Was there an official errata on the book that corrected those mistakes in a subsequent printing of the book?
I just downloaded a fresh copy of the PDF and the errors I noted are unchanged.

In the Dnd beyond app all the chapters are out of order, it starts with chapter 9, chapter 1 is in the middle of the book. Please fix. Thank you!
I own the book. Nothing is showing up in character creation. No subclasses etc. even after tabbing on the availability
Hey there!
This is now fixed - thanks for letting us know.

The Treasure Seeker background isn't giving me an option to replace a thieves tools proficiency i got from class.
Hello. there are no maps for this adventure in the maps tool
I can't access the shield guardian control amulet mentioned in the book because it originates in Icewind Dale. Is this intentional?

“I’ve spent so long in these ruins, its the outside world that terrifies me now.”
That should be it’s. Getting the wrong its/it’s is one of the most common typos and autocorrect often fails to flag it, or even auto-incorrects it.

Is there a reason that the full-color maps are only available through the Maps tool? Is there a way to get these colored maps as images?
Not likely on D&DBeyond. But you can purchase the map pack from ghostfire directly if you want to use them on another VTT.
There will also be a VTT for R20 and Foundry out sometime in the new year if you'd rather wait for those. Not sure on pricing though.

Same. I can see everything except for the Maps. Ironically, that was what I was looking forward to the most with this.
