My wife and I have been DMing and developing (in NWn 2 ) for over 12 years consistently now, so we're definitely looking forward to actually playing as PC's in SotDQ.
Of course, old habbits die hard... and so I'm still going full speed ahead with building the characters and Talespire maps for the DM :D
Heh. Fair dinkum. I sometimes end up building HeroForge models for others at my table since I know the tool and they've never picked it up the way I have. Speaking of:
Rho, in a High Fantasy adaptation from her normal status as an urban/sci-punk fantasy witch, wielding her battlewand and Magnus' Lantern:
Neat! The eye is giving me ideas for the Kansaldi mini I'm putting together....
Meanwhile, the full set for my Krynn series so far (still tweaking them, and starting work on the Ergothian army next)
Heh. Your DM's lucky to have you, that's a pretty *****in' set.
Neat trick for eyes, at least of the human sort - pop some Glow on them via the "Glow" slider in Mix. Between .3 to .5 Glow and the eye pops right out. It doesn't look like it's glowing, but it still springs them nicely out of the background and can make tracking the character's gaze easier, as well. Example:
Goliath paladin w/no eye glow:
Same paladin, eyes at .5 glow:
Notice that even through the weird shadowing cast by her weapons being all lit up, in the second one the eyes stand out without looking like flashlights. It's one of my favorite ways to make faces pop more, and it's such an easy little microhack. Try it, see what y'all think.
Oh yeah, been using the glow on a few of my sets so far, particularly while greying out the eyeball proper to stop the whites from popping out (which I think you ended up doing on the previous mini too?).
...wait.. this is giving me another idea... metal eyeball with glowing core...
Yeah, it's a little annoying you can't metallize eyes or control glow channels independently, but I suppose that's because they don't work like other color channels. Pretty obvious the "Eye" colors/patterns work differently than the rest of HeroForge, so take what we can get I suppose.
Huh, apparently I've never posted in this thread. Weird. Anyway, here's some characters I created for campaigns but never got around to playing for one reason or another
First up, there's Dje'Kare, a zealot barbarian from the Dark Domian of Har'Akir. He prefers dual wielding khopeshes (reskinned battle axes), and is descended from a fire genasi -- he has no genasi powers himself, but when he rages embers and bits of burning ash drift out of his hair. The concept is inspired by sufi whirling dervishes
Next up we have Lahkmar, a Circle of the Blighted druid (subclass from the new Tal'Dorei Reborn book) created for a Curse of Strahd campaign. He's a multiclass with a few levels of Astral Arms monk, although the "astral arms" are actually the vines and twisted plant life that wrap around him
Third, there's Green Hill Sunrise, a tabaxi Battle Master fighter who specializes in the crossbow. He's basically a Great White Hunter... only, y'know, a big cat
Finally, there's Vahnda, aka Vahnda the Automated Oracle, a warforged College of Spirits bard. They/she is basically a fortune teller in a booth, only escaped from the booth
Carric Aquissar, elven wannabe artist in his deconstructionist period (Archfey warlock) Lan Kidogo, mapach archaeologist and treasure hunter (Knowledge cleric) Mardan Ferres, elven private investigator obsessed with that one unsolved murder (Assassin rogue) Xhekhetiel, halfling survivor of a Betrayer Gods cult (Runechild sorcerer/fighter)
Only a DM since 1980 (3000+ Sessions) / PhD, MS, MA / Mixed, Bi, Trans, Woman / No longer welcome in the US, apparently

I have found that the best way to “metallicize” eyes is to use a glass effect for the eyes instead and tweak that.
Continuing work on the Krynn army sets. Here's some progress on the Ergothian military.
The initial idea for them was "latter day Rome + Eastern European", aka Byzantine influences. My wife and I were getting heavy Byzantine/ Eastern Roman Empire vibes from the stuff we were reading online at least, and were not able to find much more on Ergoth visually. (Granted, we know VERY little of Krynn ourselves).
The purple was chosen for the aforementioned Roman vibe, as well as the fact that both blue and red are already used by Solamnia and the Dragon Army quite a bit, so I wanted to pick something that would not just blend in with them.
A closer look at the Cavalier's costume. Again, the idea was Byzantine, and in his case, was supposed to draw heavily from Cataphracts (as much as can be done with HeroForge). The end of it was more something that's trying to carry the vibe than anything explicit. I'll probably revisit the design if HF adds more Eastern European parts, but I was pretty happy with the helm as it stands.

So many miniatures. How long did it take to make them all?

EDIT/ UPDATE
Hmm... not quite, but so far...
Heh, a few weeks on and off. Mostly because I keep getting distracted with other sets, and Talespire map building.
