I was trying to figure this out and I can't get it to work. My 19th level Rogue has a +2 hand crossbow. He normally has +13 to hit and 1d6 +7 damage with it.
When using the Sharpshooter feat that would change with -5 to hit and +10 damage, so it would become +8 to hit and +17 damage.
Just as a reference, my dex bonus and proficiency bonus provide the natural +11 bonus to hit. And the damage bonus is +5 from my dex. If I deduct my natural bonuses from dex and proficiency, it would mean the custom version of my +2 weapon itself is -3 to hit and +12 damage. Then, when adding my dex and proficiency bonuses...this would become the correct +8/+17. Not sure if that is helpful information or not because I can't figure out how to make the homebrew weapon no matter what I try.

Good, I’m glad. And now that we can stick those convenience hacks in a container and burry it at the bottom of inventory it’s even more convenient.
PS- Works for GWM too.
Good tip. I've occasionally wanted to create a fighter, but I keep getting drawn to characters that have more options in battle...usually spellcasters. I like the variety of choices. But if I did ever play a fighter, I'm sure I'd go for the Battlemaster for the fighting maneuver options. I bet a Paladin/Battlemaster would be a great combo.

It’s easier to add an additional copy of that weapon and simply customize it directly on the character sheet. I do it all the time. For example:

Ahhh! That's smart, I didn't think of that. That was much easier and worked perfectly!
