Hi there! does anyone know if there is a difference between spell attacks or actions that have effects similar to a spell in a homebrew monster
What do you mean? Spell attacks are spells that require an attack roll. Is that what you’re asking? If not, please elaborate upon your question.
Technically, it doesn't have to be a spell for it to be a spell attack. (Sun Soul monks' special attack is a spell attack but not a spell.) A spell attack is just an attack that isn't considered a weapon attack. You know, maybe there should be some renaming for One D&D... since you can make weapon attacks without a weapon, spell attacks without a spell, and even weapon attacks with a spell.

True, but I was trying to simplify things. And agreed.

I mean, is there a difference between a monster making a specialised action and that monster casting a spell with the same effe- oh hang on a second they've just answered it. Thanks! Still though, while creating a homebrew monster, actions and spells are in separate sections, so does it mean anything different if I just add an action with the same effects as a spell?
Here's a question: I've created a 1st level Fighting Style option for the Fighter for my home-brew. Is there a way to make that selectable on the DnDB character sheet?

Unfortunately not, no. It is not currently possible to alter base class features like Fighting Styles. The only option is to implement it as a feat and have the player leave their Fighting Style blank.
Gotcha. I'm playing a Variant Human and already have chosen my bonus feat. Following your suggestion, is there a way to get an additional feat without messing up the character sheet too badly?

New question: My home-brew subclass is based off the Battle Master. One of the 3rd Level subclass features is Techniques, and has 18 options to choose from.
Right now on the Character Builder, it says that I only have one selectable option to choose at 3rd level, when it should be 3 at 1st, 2 at 7th, and 2 at 10th.
How do I make this work in the Character Builder? (i.e. what am I missing?)

I must be missing something, because I believe I did all the things pointed out in that FAQ. The ONLY thing I did not do at the INITIAL creation was do the "3,3,7...". I've tried adding that since reading through the FAQ, but it doesn't seem to be applying.
Must I completely re-do that 3rd Level Class feature and re-add ALL 18 Options? No way to Copy / Paste all of those Options, hey? :P
No. Please see the General Homebrew FAQ #s 6 & 6-B.
Actually, having just come back from a 25 minute walk and re-opening DnDB, it appears that my initial changes took. Guess it takes "a moment" for any changes to actually apply. Lolz.
