So my DM has given me a new custom weapon which is super cool. The problem is he's not very good with the custom magic weapons, and after fiddling with it for a bit I have no idea how the hell it works either.
The weapon itself is pretty simple, +1 boomerang, but instead of being 1d4, it does 1d6 slashing (it's a bladed boomerang).
Custom weapons so far use the default boomerang damage. If I do a custom action I can't add the +1. There must be a way to hit the balance, how would you homebrewers do it?
Either that or I would make it 1d4 damage when thrown one-handed and 1d6 when thrown two-handed and give it Versatile. (Or give it some other excuse to do 1d4 some of the time and 1d6 other times and fake it with the versatile trait.)

I would use a 1d6 weapon like a javelin.
