Im working on a spell for a Custom Class that im developing in my free time ...
The question is do you think that a spell that adds 5d4 (elemental) damage to a melee weapons for 1 min is OP? It should be noted that the spell can not be cast until level 17 and has a maximum of 2 Casting per long rest at level 20 (I.e. Level 5 half caster spell)?
The Elemental would be something like Fire, Cold, Lightning, Radiant .... etc. but it would only do 1 .... it would not be stack-able with any different elements or with its self.
Compared to something like Holy Weapon where the damage is only 2d8 per swing radiant damage, and the duration is 1 hour, is a little less damaging per swing but yours lasts a much shorter duration. Holy weapon also has a secondary effect that can be used that does burst damage and applies a condition on a failed save. So overall I don't think your spell is over powered, If anything it might be a little less powerful by comparison.

I deliberately described it to make it sound like elemental weapons, because it is similar to that spell ... in reality it is actually very different and is more similar to an item than to a spell.... it is for the custom class i'm working on "Alchemist"
