Hello, i have a friend who is DMing a game after backing the kickstarter game called Tanares, which is like a D&D spin-off/add-on. Obviously a lot of the additional spells, classes, races, etc are not in D&D Beyond, so some things have been a tad tricky when wanting to add things to a character profile specific to the other game, so i've started to add things (such as spells to start, or the new bard college) to my homebrew section so i can add to my character. I'm not sure if 'Tanares' counts as a 3rd party source to D&D, and therefore i'm not sure if i would or would not be breaking the rules of the homebrew page to post things as public since the content isn't something i created myself after all.
I don't suppose Tanares content will be added to D&D Beyond at some point and i wouldn't have to worry, but until then, i'm curious. Or if it was possible to share my private homebrew content with my dungeon party specifically?
i tried making a question directly to Wizards of the Coast, but apparently they can't answer direct questions about homebrew and directed me to asking the forums instead. This is a lot of work just to get an answer
Anything that isn’t written by WotC, or you personally (and other players) is considered 3PP (3rd Party Publication). Anything you personally write, or other players write is considered 2nd party, but you are only allowed to publish stuff that you personally have written, and only if you haven’t published it elsewhere. So essentially, if you don’t personally create it, don’t publish it here.
thanks for the frank and concise response. That's all i've wanted. So i'll simply keep what i 'copied' as private so i can use it until or if D&D Beyond ever add the content from Tanares
