I am making a belt of poisoned throwing knives that have 3 tight pockets for knives each containing poisonous fungi inside. To reuse a knife character need to wash it and dry before putting back into the belt. So my thinking is that it must be a short rest. So I set charges and reset conditions in additional information for the belt. Now, the problem is that when I use charges on it and do the short rest it does not recharge automatically as I expected :/ Is this additional property suppose to work as I assumed?

Ok, I see. But why have an option to specify this in additional information if it is not working? Is it currently known issue or it should not recharge by design? Sorry if it is a stupid question, I am new to both DND and DDB.
This blew me away, my players have been using magic home brew items for months and haven't said a word about them not recharging. I had assumed by filling that out it would, never thought to double check it.
This seems like a bug or unfinished feature to me, since they have a check box that denotes charges existing on the object and a drop down of what recharges it.
Programming wise everything is their to detect if it needs to be recharged.
In the second menu, Additional information, there is a place to specify how the recharges work.
Edit: It is bizarre but given that many magical items require a dice rolling mechanic which is currently not offered by DDB it may be a feature they will implement. If this is deeply frustrating, head over to the feedback section and let them know about it.

No, magic items do not automatically recharge.

I have it set to has charges checked, number of charges 2, and reset condition short rest but it doesn't seem to reset the charges on short rest.
Yes, currently, it shouldn't. You have to manually change the number of charges.
