I'm trying to create a Bard subclass with a unique unarmed armor class calculation. I want it to be 12 + Charisma (cannot benefit from shields), but I can't get any of the options in the Homebrew features to make that happen. This is the descriptive text:
Dancer’s Grace. When you join the College of Dance at 3rd level, you learn to use your swaying and allure to avoid harm and dissuade attack. When not wearing armor or wielding a shield, your AC is 12 + your Charisma modifier.
Sorry, not that I’ve found specifically. The best I got is to list that about Shields in the “Details” and hope they notice. Someone else may know better. But DDB is redoing that system, so it may be a thing soon.
Sorry for the thread jacking, but I wanted to do something similar, but also add a bonus at specific sublass levels i.e. at sublass level 5, it be comes 13+DEX, level 11 it becomes 14+DEX. I tried adding a level scaling to the class feature and putting in the level and fixed value at 3 for level 5. This did not work for me. Any suggestions?

Sorry for the delayed response, I was on a 3-day vacation.
You would have to create the initial bonus at the original level and the hen create additional features at higher levels that increase the AC. So, for example you would need a 5th-level feature that sets the basic value like this:
No worries! So the level scaling within the class feature isn't an option? Bummer, not sure what that would be for, then. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give that a go.

What do you mean? Do you mean “level scaling?” That enables the {{scalevalue}} snippet and displays info on the sheet. (Like the snippet for Sneak Attack for example.) Each subform attached to a feature (modifiers, spells. level scaling, etc.) are wholly independent of the other subforms.
This is what I was trying originally- class feature with the Modifier: Set->Subtype: Unarmed AC->Fixed Value: 2. Then under the same feature Level Scaling: Level 5 Fixed Value: 3.
The Additional feature doesn't seem to be working either. I've got the Granted class feature as mentioned above, then an Additional class feature at level 5 with Modifier: Bonus- Subtype: Unarmored AC- Fixed Value: 1.
After you added the additional modifier at 5th level, did you re-save the entire Homebrew using the main [SAVE CHANGES] button under Basic Information? (That’s a MUST.)
Did you give the system time to catch up? Sometimes it can take up to 20ish minutes for the multiple servers to all update their caches.
Did you attempt to “wake up” the cache for your character sheet? Sometimes it needs a nudge, like changing the level up and back down again to trigger the cache to update.
If none of that fixes the issue, the only other things I could suggest trying are:
Change that first modifier from “Set” to “Bonus” like how you did the second one.
Change the second modifier to “Set” like the first one, but with a 3 in the Fixed Value field.
The “Set” modifier might be preventing the “Bonus” modifier from getting applied properly. (Come to think of it, I wonder if that’s why bracers of defense don’t work correctly for characters with Tortle as the race. 🤔) But definitely try the “save, wait, and nudge” first, that solves more issues than most folks would expect.
If none of that fixes it either, then I suggest posting a link to your homebrew so a Mod or Staffer can investigate it for you. (They can even look into unpublished homebrews.)
3- Yes. I usually change the subclass to another, then back to the homebrew for this.
Something to note- I named the upgrades something different from the main. The base is named Unarmored Defense, then the Additional is named Unarmored Defense Level 5. Could that cause the issue? I don't see that second name at all listed under Features and Traits on the character sheet despite being level 5, so maybe it isn't applying?
Hmmm. It still isn't showing up in the list of Features and Traits or working when I change it to Set. I think I'll just make replacement features and set the class levels and try it that way. Will report results in a bit.
Update- I'm a doof. I forgot that additional and replacement features don't live in the normal class features section. The first suggestion likely will work, but I've definitely got the replacement feature working. Thank you for your help, IamSposta!

Nahh, AFAIK, the only subclass feature names that actually matter are “Spellcasting,” “Pact Magic,” and “Hex Warrior.”

If it is not showing the new feature then re-save the whole subclass again, wait 20 minutes, and then wake up your character sheet again. (Refresh the tab with the character sheet both before and after the wake up nudge.)

What should I be doing?
Modifier—>Set.
Modifier Subtype—>Unarmored Armor Class.
Ability Score—>Cha.
Fixed Value—>2
Modifier—>Ignore.
Modifier Subtype—>Unarmored Dex AC Bonus

Thank you! I don't expect there is a way to prevent it from working when a shield is equipped?
Happy to help.

Im trying to make an unarmored defense that's 10+intelligence+charisma. It seems to only be adding one and not both. Does anyone know how to help?
You need to use three modifiers:
I’m guessing that instead of “Modifier: Bonus” you were using “Modifier: Set,” but it can only “set” one thing.
