Hi all, I recently made a couple new spells for a character I was trying to make. All of it is HEAVILY inspired from the game League of Legends and I do not take credit for any of the ideas in these spells. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to put a disclaimer like that, but rather safe than sorry.
Anyways,
The issue that I'm having is that the button on the character sheet I have to roll dice doesn't seem to correctly represent the data I have on the spell. For example, the damage of Fox Fire could be 2d4 + 4, but on the character sheet, it'll only show up as something like 1d4 + 3. Looking at the spell itself I can't find where it says 1d4 + 3. Changing the modifier, or the spell level scaling doesn't seem to work. And I even made a fresh character after editing just to make sure that it's updated, but it didn't work. I've created 4 spells each with the same exact issue and I can't seem to find out how to fix it. Manually entering the dice I need to roll on the sheet isn't that big of a deal, but this issue has been really making me scratch my head. I can't tell if this is a bug, or I'm just doing something really wrong here. Any advice would be helpful.
TLDR: The button for rolling damage on a spell isn't accurately presented on what I put down.
Foxfire is a Cantrip, so it is only intended to work off of character level. I don’t really know what you did, but try using a similar Cantrip as a template to work from.
Spirit Rush’s “Upon Reaching Level 7” bit wonowork because those kinds of level scaling only works on Cantrips.
Orb of Deception’s “Every level after 3rd level, gain 1d4 and +3 damage” is impossible, you can either do the +1d4 or the +3, not both. Same goes for Charming Kith.
In future, thoroughly playtest and edit your spells prior to publication.
