so, I have a homebrew weapon called sweet caroline, a modified revolver with three shots instead of six and can fire 3 times as an action. for a normal revolver, the damage is 2d8 and to keep the gun balance I decided to reduce the 2d8 to 2d4 but for some reason on the character sheet, it says the damage is 2d8 and I don't know what to do. any ideas on how to fix it?
You cannot change the damage die. You can only add extra dice or whole numbers. I suppose you could add negative numbers too.
If you want to make it different, give it an area effect instead. Something like "Fan the Trigger: You can fire all of the bullets in the gun. Choose a point within range, each creature in a 10-foot-radius sphere centered on that point must make a (DC 13) Dexterity saving throw. A target takes 2d8 piercing damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one."

It is not currently possible to change the base damage for a weapon in the homebrewer.
