Evendur accepts the sackcloth rabbit "That is a fine gift, you must be brave to part with it. We will return it to you when we have rescued the other townspeople, so help me Torm"
When the child enters the tunnel Evendur turns to Kosef and offers him the rabbit "You should keep this, I am protected by mighty Torm, but I also have been known to displace things when my squire is not around" Then trying as before to make way toward the temple under the directions of Valas and Kendes.
"Thank you, Evendur," Kosef says. He will put the rabbit in a side pocket of his backpack. He watches the child until it enters the tunnel, trying to remember its features so they can return the rabbit and Evendur promised. His parents gave him a gift as well--Kosef considers his sword for moment--though not as soft, it is a way to make a living.
He looks towards the others in the dim light and tries to tell what is going on, Perception: 14.
Kendes follows through with his plan and attacks the woman with the amulet immediately, particularly when he hears "Tiamat." He yells out after he strikes at the two standing next to him. "Atala! Mhurn! They've betrayed us and plan to kill you!"
(Surprise round, hidden, adv on first attack I hope? I can also roll deception if I need because Kendes is totally lying about that, but I hope the heat of battle counts for something XD)

Kosef hears the sound of a fight starting up ahead. He can hear a woman cry out in pain, and a man yell, "Cryssa! Tiamat will make you pay for her death!"
Kendes attack takes down the woman with the amulet. She drops to the ground and lies very still. Atala and Mhurn stare in surprise. Mhurn says, "It's that triton. The one you used to work with." When Kendes kills the woman, the man cries out, "Cryssa! Tiamat will make you pay for her death!"
Kendes, you can make a deception check with advantage.
Kosef will move toward the sounds of fighting. He isn't sure who Kendes is attacking, but has decided he trusts him. Readying the attack action for his turn, he lifts his sword from his shoulder: 20 to hit and 8 damage. (GWM BA if necessary and within range: 17 to hit and 8 damage).
When Kosef puts the rabbit in his backpack. "No need to thank me loyal Kosef, you are doing me a favor watching over our gift" Evendur replies with a sincere smile.
When Kosef starts moving, Evendur follows even though he is not sure what they are moving towards, trusting the judgement of his loyal companion.

"No wait..." Concerned with Kosef and Sir Evendur further behind, Valas tries to stop Kendes but it is too late.
Not wanting to abandon his new triton ally, Valas leaps into action behind the monk. (Initiative: 12 ) He goes for the man shouting about Tiamat, a bit unsure of the status of the other two after the words exchanged.
Booming Blade Attack: 17 Damage: 8 Thunder damage if he moves: 3
Valas' attack catches the man off guard, and he is able to draw blood. The man seems heavily injured, but is still standing. After hearing Kendes' words, Atala and Mhurn look at each other in shock. Then Mhurn (the half-orc) says "I told you we couldn't trust those people." Mhurn draws his sword, and prepares to attack the last remaining cultist. However, before he can attack, Kosef and Evendur arrive through the reeds. Kosef' sword, which was readied for a fight, quickly deals with the last cultist.

OOC: I assumed Kosef would take the readied action on the cultist before anyone else got to go. Someone correct me if I am wrong about readied actions or what Kosef would do.
Kipio had been keeping his head turned away from the child, he feared that if he was seen that it may scare him. However, his new companions were able to calm and send the child away without him being noticed.
He was caught off guard by Kendes' sudden attack he emerges from the reeds producing a flame in his hand. Upon hearing the name Tiamat being shouted by the human cultist he unleashes the flame upon him.
As Evendur finally reaches the battle he is confused over the stance of the two standing raiders and luckily recalls the teachings of Master Frume about the importance of establishing who is your enemy when you enter an unknown situation, and instead of raising his own sword he blurts out to the half orc "Sheath your blade and you might live through the night"
Intimidation to convince the half orc to at least lower his sword: 13
(OOC:Rolled with advantage if any of Evendurs companions gives the help action. If not the result would be 6, going with the first roll)
The half-orc lowers his sword. The half-orc and the woman show no sign of wanting to fight. "We're not with them," the woman says, pointing at the dead people. "They just thought we were cultists. We don't want any trouble." She looks to Kendes, and adds, "We've worked together. You know we're just ordinary people."
Evendur, now even more confused turns to Kendes "Well brave Kendes, can you vouch for these two?" "And then turns back to the woman "So what are you ordinary people that worked with Kendes doing here in Greenest if I may ask?"Intimidation/Persuasion if necessary to get more answers: 21
(Kendes, who has a player who is celebrating holidays with family, totally vouches for these two XD )
"Yes... this is Atala and Mhurn. They're just traders who supply Greenest. The cultists have been using them on their runs without their knowledge. They're good people,"Kendes tells Evendur. Not like my father and I,he thinks bitterly. His face twists, and he turns to the two newcomers. "You should know... my father, Valgas, died a short while ago. His last request was that I come here and stop this cult from carrying out whatever they'd been planning. I... see now that I'm too late. And I'm sorry you two got caught up in it."
"What the triton says is true," Atala says. "We were bringing supplies to Greenest. We had no idea about the cult. If you know where we could find shelter, we would be very grateful." She looks at Kendes sadly, and says, "It is a shame about your father. I hope he finds peace in the realms beyond." Mhurn nods in agreement with her statement.
OOC: I may not be around until late tomorrow, so I will post what is found if you approach the temple now.
One large menacing cultist is giving orders to two men with scimitars and a group of six kobolds. They are trying to break down the doors of the temple.
A group of three humans, ten kobolds, and two large lizard creatures (they look like smallish wingless dragons) are walking around the temple. They are just passing the group at the back when you all arrive.
Three cultists and six kobolds are trying to set a fire at the back door of the temple. They are producing a lot of smoke, which lightly obscures the area.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Evendur inspects Mhurn and Atala and then speaks again with grim determination.
"Well I must admit that you seem to be something more than ordinary people, but brave Kendes have my full trust. We would like to get you into safety but I fear you would do best to stay with us for now. We are heading for the temple up that hill to save the town priest and any other townsfolk that might still be up there. You could show your allegiance by helping Kendes and the rest of us with that task. What say thee Mhurn and Atala?" Persuasion to get their help for now:21 (rolled with advantage, which Evendur could have for a number of reasons, otherwise go with first result which yields the same result)
Regardless of their answer Evendur would then make way towards the temple and assess the situation on the temple grounds.
Evendur then speaks in a lowered voice to any who decided to follow him. "They are to many for even us to take on at once Perhaps we could take out the groups one at a time?"
(OOC: Am I correct in thinking that we approch the temple from the river to the south, and that we would be close to the back door of the temple taking cover behind vegetation and some sort of wall/fence? Also, is the second group on some sort of patrol duty?)
"Yes," Kosef says, "We are very out numbered. Let's let the largest group, the second one with two large lizard creatures, pass and then attack the group at the back door. We should definitely try to divide and then conquer them," he says. He twists his hands tight around his sword.

The first two people are engaged in a conversation. The two behind them are speaking about something else.
Human Man: I'm sure I heard people in the reeds over there.
Amulet Woman: Like you were sure there were people in the reeds back over there? If these are more ducks...
Human Man: I'm sure this time. I heard metal. Like from armour. Ducks don't wear armour.
Amulet Woman: You had better be right. Tiamat did not grant me my power to smite ducks.

Half-orc: Are you sure this is a good idea?
Other Woman: Do you want to end up like the people in this town? Be quiet and go along with them.
