"Poor little beast, it's possibly hungry or...."- Marlyth shudders and almost chokes on her own words when she recalls that it's probably the mating season for these beasts (#699: DM post). She pretends to faint and drops on the ground when she finds herself reluctant to fight the pair of beasts.
she finds herself reluctant to fight the pair of beasts.
She shouldn't
As clever as it is cruel, a leucrotta loves to deceive, torture, and kill. Because leucrottas are smarter and tougher than most gnolls, one could occupy an elevated position within a gnoll tribe. Although a leucrotta is unlikely to lead a group of gnolls, it can influence the leader, and it might even agree to carry a leader into battle and offer advice during the fight.
Gnolls see leucrottas as a form of entertainment, partly because a leucrotta can mimic the squeals of a suffering victim — a sound that always gives gnolls pleasure — even when no victims are to be had. Further, a gnoll is bloodthirsty and sadistic, but unable by its nature to prolong the fun of killing. Most leucrottas are consciously cruel, to the point of being meticulous about their savagery to draw out a kill into better and longer sport. Gnolls enjoy watching a leucrotta work almost as much as they like doing their own killing.
Also, I forgot they are large, so that has been fixed on the map, you'll see it in the next map post
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Angus will advance past Marlyth to the right side of Leucrotta 1. If he can get within melee range, he will cast searing smite as a bonus action, and then attack the creature with his longsword twice.
First Longsword Attack: 11 Damage: 7 + 5 fire damage + ignition of target
Second Longsword Attack: 11 Damage: 12 + 2 fire damage if first attack misses
Marlyth will conjure up a pair of fey spirits who assume the silhouettes of some type of floating creatures, and finally both of the spirits morph into the beast form of Giant Eagles. The summoned creatures will use each of their talons to pick up the party members, lift them at least 20 ft overhead so that they can still engage in ranged combat.
"These beasts remind me of something terrible....feral humanoids that can take life mercilessly and without any valid reason. Guys, do you want to fight them till death?"

<I need to know if people want this, because they can choose not to be lifted by friendly fey eagles, which would make them ground targets; by co trasf if this includes Angus, there's an AoO on the movement. If you're trying to make an attack while being held aloft by an eagle, the attack has disadvantage. Properly using an eagle as a mount requires an exotic saddle. FYI a giant eagle can carry up to 480lbs.>
<they're not humanoid, they're monstrosities, and soon (monsters of the multiverse) gnolls will be corrected to fiends; they're literally not humanoid.>
<I got impatient. It was about to die, whoever did anything next It would have died, so it died.>
You've got to get like 100 miles south if here. It's going g to take more than one day. Catch a long rest.
As you near the place Waltarn described, a fog rolls over the moor. You're still about three miles from the I dicated place, but the area is lightly obscured. Though there aren't many trees on the moor, the plants in this area look particularly unhealthy. By the time you've made it within a mile of your destination, a calcifying mold dries and hardens all the plants 🪴 in the area, killing many heather and thistle.
Marlyth (and probably the rest of you but let's just let the druid have this) notices the water in this area is fouled and poisonous and believes the cause is supernatural.
