With Cale’s assurances, Kelvini nods in agreement and is ready to take Leosin’s place tied up at the far end of the pen. Upon making it over to him, Leosin thanks Kelvini and makes the change with his bonds already loosened by Inglenook and Kiari. It does look like they could almost be twins and they exchange tunics for Leosin to make his escape.
Meanwhile, as the guards make their change, one spots Travis nearby and shouts as he strides up to him, “Hail Tiamat! You are a mighty big fella and must be here to help us guard the egg! Or are you out on a scouting expedition with your partner there?” as he gestures at the professor. (OOC: I can retcon a bit if Thaddeus was trying to hide)
"Excellent, thank you Kelvini." She assists in the switch then looks at Leosin and the others. "So do we escort him back with some of the prisoners that we can sneak out or stay and investigate further?"
Travis and the professor both seem like they are blending in, and the passing cultist says, “Hail Tiamat, and may your scouting go well!” The professor will see other tents, but none are as big as the Dragonborn’s tent. The cave is pretty dark, but coins glitter in the moonlight looking like some of the loot bags have been brought in. The guards are reset.
(Since Thaddeus and Travis are blending in pretty well, they could try to bluff into the cave, check out the large tent or head back to the pen, etc. without raising much suspicion)
Meanwhile, back at the pen, Leosin answers Kiari with, “Perhaps we could volunteer for the next work detail? They usually take folks out with half a dozen kobolds and a couple of cultists to do work just outside of camp. People usually come back beaten and exhausted, though. Or if you all wanted to escape, I could get a closer look at that eastern cave if you take everything we have seen and learned so far back to my Order.”
Kirari nods to Leosin. "Going out on a word detail might give us an opportunity to take down some of their number, come back with more disguises." She looks at Cale and Inglenook, "Do you think we could pull it off without it backfiring and giving us away?" She gazes into the distance trying to catch sight of the other two, "I hope the others are doing well."
"As much as I detest doing other people's work, I think going out on work detail might be a good opportunity to scout around.
Cale? Kirari? What do you think? I can send a message to the Professor or Travis to let them know our plans, won't take a moment and no-one would notice. Perhaps they could even get on the guard list for the next work detail so we'd have some friendlies on both sides?"
Cale nods at Inglenook's suggestion: "That's not bad, Nookie. I think one of us at least needs to get Leo out of here, but one or two could join the working party"
"If you could possibly ask them to pilfer a couple light weapons, I could try to head back with Leosin and at least one other prisoner that might not be missed to at least relay a message to Greenest." She looks about at the other two knowing that she's not particularly stealthy, but stealth seemed more useful in the camp.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The professor wants to check out the cave a bit closer. He approaches the guards with Travis. “Hail Tiamat! I’ve got a new guard here and we were told to examine the cave to make sure it’s secure. He’s going to be joining your rotation soon. May we enter?” He tries to sound official yet bored. Just a guy running an errand on a superior’s orders.
At the cave mouth, the guard casually says to Thaddeus and Travis, "Who sent you, and do you have a copy of your orders? I need to see orders signed by Mondath herself if you want to enter this here nursery." This guard is a cultist and does not seem too alarmed at the moment; these kinds of mixups happen, and there is a lot of loot being moved around. Getting up close, you see that this cultist is wearing a red dragon talisman around his neck and his mask has red accents. This is clearly different from the cultists you met in Greenest who did not have such elaborate masks, and if they did, they were light purple. The guard then answers to Travis, "And may Tiamat crush the unfaithful!"
Meanwhile, back at the pen, Leosin says, "Unfortunately, I don't think I would be much help to you in a fight. I am feeling better thanks to Kiari, but I still don't feel quite like myself. I like the idea of your friends trying to be our 'guards,' but as soon as Mondath is suspicious or realizes I am gone, she will send the who camp after me!"
The professor snorts “Of course not! I was told the orders were already sent here ahead of us. This always happens. They probably got busy with other things and forgot to send the orders, or maybe the last guards got them. Well no matter we can see the cave from here and you two are doing an excellent job guarding the entrance!“ He then turns to Travis.
”This is where you’ll be standing guard on your rotation. Just do it like these guards, by the book. I don’t know all the guards but this fellow here seems to be one to listen to. You should follow his example.”
He turns back to the guards “And what was your name again? I want to make sure my superiors know just how competent you are and how well you follow orders.”
Back at the prison, Cale's brow furrows: "It's a great plan but we have no way of messaging Champ and the Prof. We'll just have to hope that they have the same idea; we can only deal with what's before us and that's getting Leo here to safety. I can be quiet and I have good eyes - that qualifies me for either getting our man out of camp, or joining the Hard Labour Experience holiday"
In the pen, Leosin replies, “If I stay here, I could try to gather the last amount of intel I can find about the camp, but I think I am ready to return with you all to Greenest. I think I can slip out of the pen here with you as a ‘worker,’ but if a fight breaks out when we try to escape the kobolds supervising us, I am not sure if I can help. That said, I stand ready with you all to try and make it back to town.” Turning to Cale, he asks, “Also, didn’t your gnome friend here say he could relay a message back to your colleagues?”
At the cave, the guard straightens up at the professor’s comments and says, “Of course, these things happen. The name is Bruce, sir. See you both when you get the orders all sorted out.”
Travis continues to play the strong, silent type--not that much of a stretch for him. He nods at the professor's instructions and waits to see what he will do next.
Kirari moves about occasionally to try to avoid the look of earnest discussion among them but hopes a message can be relayed by their friend to the others to coordinate their movements.
Inglenook discreetly removes a metallic ring from his pocket and places it on his finger. He turns and whispers to the others in earshot, "this ring will allow me to send a whispered message to The Professor or Travis to let them know what our intentions are. I think if we are able to get away from this main encampment with a smaller force guarding us, which hopefully includes Prof and Trav, then we have a better chance of getting away unscathed. I hope."

The professor whispers to Travis, “Act casual, just keep your distance… but don’t look like you’re trying to keep your distance!”
12 stealth while looking with 12 perception.

Travis nods and tries to draw on his experience of milling about in large groups on or near the field of battle.
(I'll do deception instead of stealth, based on conversation in OOC thread)

"Hail Tiamat!" Travis says with as much enthusiam as he can muster, giving the others a nod. He says nothing else for the moment.
