Earlier: "... Indeed it is, Mr. Yully. Indeed it is."Hun replied. Though try as he might, his tone had carried a bit of patronizing air to it.
Present: "Hmn.... another scouting mission would perhaps be in order. BUT, only once its closer to low tide again. Because once we make our move, I'd rather we not have to be in such dangerous waters for too long."He narrows his eyes at the Triton. "Unless you're suggesting you playing observer at length to get a better read on their habits? If so, it'a still be better to wait 'till its closer to low tide, and well... Hmn..." With a troubled look, Hun began rubbing at his head until Rhogal's chiming in drew full attention from the Kobold.
"I take it then you've figured out how to become something more aquatic, eh? Hm! Congratulations, Lord of the Fungus. Though something tales me anything you might turn into wouldn't be great for hulling everyone at once, it shall be kept in mind. But first, there's still the matter of Kairus scouting idea." Hun mentions, and after looking back and forth between Rhogal and Kairus, he sighs and crosses his arms. "Seeing as you're eager to be busy, see to what you can. And if Moss beard over hear can further aid in that or join ya, that way you guys can at least better watch each others back, then by all the better. Just remember to be careful and quick to book it back if this is really going to be a thing.... now, toss me some rope. We need to get a line ready to lower to the waters... unless there's plans to dive off?"
The high tide catches the group by surprise and a new tactical discussion commences. As Hun sees it, the group has three potential unfinished businesses to tend to (the kobold needs Kairus' help to remember all of the details): A sea hag who was left to continue haunting one of the wrecks (Dirty Bastard); the undead captain protecting a sealed sarcophagus in another wreck (Sea Mare); and the double-headed Plesiosaurus that patrols these waters during high tide but only the Sea Mare's vicinity during low tide.
Judging by his interest in the sarcophagus, Kairus seems to dismiss the sea hag option for now. Suggesting a way forward, the bard proposes a scouting mission first. Rhogal volunteers to join the triton, eager to test some new power, but Hun hints at needing more time to fashion some type of diving suit and to wait until the low tide arrives. Regarding the first of these two arguments, the kobold claims to need some resources he had lent to Yulmiath, who agrees to return them. In the end, Hun suggests that Kairus and Rhogal scout ahead.
(OOC: Are we moving forward with the scouting plan? If so, will you wait until low tide or will you scout ahead now?)
"With what happened last time, best wait until the time is lower regardless. Not sure how the rest of you are going to go, but I can walk out there, maybe even hold a line while you scout out underwater if needed"
"While we wait, I think I might just do a bit of scratching around on the beach to see what the tides might have delivered"
Not expecting much, Krodhen heads off down the beach, looking for any small treasure or item of interest that might have found its way to shore somehow.

To be precise, Kairus did not count the hag among potential targets. As far as he was aware, this part of the group's journey was resolved: they fought, won, got retribution and promised the creature to leave her alone (this time collectively). Nothing to see there anymore.
Two-headed plesiosaurus, though, was another matter. That oversized lizard seemed to hang around the much-desired sarcophagus and could become a problem right in the middle of combat with the undead.
"Agreed, let's wait until tides are closer to the lower point. Then I go in invisible and check if our lizard friend is there. When I return, we can decide what to do."
Should others agree, Kairus would use invisibility to move to the Sea Mare and check for the presence of both potential targets.
(Stealth: 10. Re-roll if invisibility gives an advantage or it is arbitrary bad - with Luck point)
(@Blue: Invisibility underwater is a tricky one, because your silhouette would still be completely visible. So, instead of advantage, let's call that second roll a use of a Luck point.)
With a few hours to kill, the group finds things to do as they wait for the tide to recede. Yulmiath and Kairus find what remained of the makeshift smoking shed they had built in this area during their last visit and, after being joined by Rhogal, spend some time refurbishing it and setting much of their lizard meat to smoke. As they know from experience, this process will take a little while.
Krodhen, Hun, and Mr.Thicc instead focus on setting climbing points down the cliff, putting their ropes, hammers, pitons, and picks to good use. Once this is done, Krodhen makes his way down to the beach and begins searching about for anything interesting that might have washed ashore. He finds some colorful seashells, though they are all broken or chipped in one way or another. Perhaps someone in Ahoyhoy could find a use for them, but who knows...
It is practically lunch time before the tide is low enough for the group to feel comfortable about a scouting mission. While some taste the mid-smoking meat, Kairus puts on a layer of invisibility and begins to swim as gracefully as only a triton can. Ignoring the wreck housing the sea witch, the bard aims straight for the Sea Mare. Soon, he is not only able to confirm that the undead figure continues to relentlessly guard the sarcophagus within, but also that the double-headed dinosaur looms nearby. Luckily, neither potential enemy seems to have noticed the invisible triton. Kairus swims back and informs the group of his findings while still maintaining his spell.
Wiping his hands on his breeches to get of leftover lizard meat juice, Yulmiath decides not to best around the bush with this.
"We need a plan then. No way we're getting by both of them unseen. Best route might just be to decide which fight we pick first."
Having let that settle for a moment, he adds, "My vote is two-headed dinosaur first, seems like the harder fight and I'd rather be fresh for it, unless anyone has anything rattling round in their big brains for just such an occasion?"
Yulmiath looks hopefully at Hun, then Karius, then Rhogal, then Krodhen.
(OOC Am I right in thinking Yully should be down three lizard steaks. Dinner, midnight snack and breakfast?)
"Agreed," answered the air (Kairus decided to keep his invisibility for as long as possible). "The undead does not care about anything but the cargo, it seems. The dinosaur would want food, meaning, us. Might even try to snatch someone from shallow waters." The air whistled thoughtfully and added. "Can try to make this lizard levitate, so we can shoot it from below. But it might get complicated."
"Sec-ah-shoot! Thirded, I guess now."Hun replied with a half-hearted glare leveled up where he last heard Kairus. "Unfortunately, I wouldn't put too much hope of it getting too close to the shallows. Short of powerful current or storm, most big'uns of the aquatic type tend to avoid them to avoid the risk of beaching themselves. Or worse!"He explained. "And before anyone suggests it, no, we can't just use some of the lizard meat as bait... I mean, technically we can, but we'd just as likely attract other bottom feeders or even sharks too dumb or brave as to try and pick at us."
"So, we got roughly two choices. Either a) whoever would be our fastest swimmer can get just close enough to the beast to attract its attention -- maybe shooting a crossbow bolt at it, and draw it /just/ far enough away from the Sea Mare that we don't have to worry about spooktastic, with the rest of us lying in wait in the second location to mess about the fish, Or b)... we just freaking roll up on the diddle dum and dumber, aka our two-headed fish friend, but more closer to the surface near the Sea Mare, hoping to Gond that ain't too close for Spooktastic to wanna get all uppity." At that point Hun crossed his arms and smirks. "Needlessly to say, I'm all the more for Plan A. And for Kromagnus sake over here--" He thumbs Krodhen's general direction. "We'll want to bring it closer to the surface either way. The only question is do we got any volunteers to make the run. For as far as second locations go, I'd say we try to lure it to the next closest ship to the sea mare that isn't further out, or as close as can be without being too close to the shallows."

OOC: Krodhen will want to have rope attached, if it is practical - how far is it between the Sea Mare and the nearest wreck?
Reunited, the group discusses their new plan. Yulmiath and Kairus soon agree that it is better to face the enemies separately. When Hun quickly devises two alternate plans to achieve such a separation, Krodhen agrees with the kobold that the best approach is to lure the hungry dinosaur away from the single-minded undead being.
First step: the group needs to get to a safe location near the Sea Mare. They go over their notes from the last visit and spot the Virago, the closest ship to the Sea Mare and second farthest away from the shore. The Virago was the ship that the sea witch, Myldred, assured was empty (you verified this later), and it has a burnt nub of a mast and a scorched top deck. Nothing else would normally be visible above water, but more of the wreck is visible now that the tide has receded.
The group takes advantage of the low tide to make their way to the Virago. Krodhen walks there with the help of his ring of water walking, offering to carry Mr. Thicc with the help of a rope. With similar ease but beneath the surface, Yulmiath puts his cloak of the manta ray to use in reaching the Virago as well, giving Rhogal a ride in the process. A still invisibleKairus swims with natural grace to the same destination, aiding Hun as he can. Because of the low tide, reaching the Virago is not a particularly difficult task, and neither is this ship near dangerous rocks.
From the Virago, the party looks over to the Sea Mare. A good 300 feet separate the two wrecks.
"I'll do it. I'll distract the dinosaur."The "air well" on the smooth water surface indicated the place the triton was standing on, making communication easier. "Will try to talk some senses into the creature. After all, we are quite the inconvenient prey, no sane animal will waste so much energy for an uncertain result."The well moved towards the drop-off. "Be ready to fire all you've got if things go south. And keep that meat close, by the way." Once everything was settled, Kairus set the plan into motion.
Without splashing the invisible triton dived in and swam towards the beast. He was not trying to hide this time and expected the lizard's senses to pick up his presence. Actual visibility is never a requirement underwater for good communication (or hunting, or whatever) and he simply began to talk once the hearing distance, thanking gods for that distance to be longer than on the surface.
"Greetings, my big fellow. There are few people here. We are travellers in this waters and do not want any troubles. We want to get to that ship below with the skeleton walking around it. Would you mind if we do? We can offer some snacks in exchange for your permission."
Pieces of meat could be just a little snack, but should the plesiosaurus agree, Kairus could also offer the rest of the lizards' corpses to be transported to this place. (Persuasion: 10 and second time with Luck if needed 29)
(That was Emissary of the Sea: You can communicate simple ideas with beasts that can breathe water.)
If only for the sake of expediency, as both could swim... more or less, Hun accepted help there was to be for both himself and on behalf of Mr. Thicc. Once they reached their destination however, the Kobold found himself admittedly somewhat distracted and lost in thought going over the plan in mind.
"Three hundred feet... a bit too much..." Hun mumbled to himself. Then after a while, Kairus last words click. "... Wait, what!? That wasn't -- Oh for the love of Gond, seriously!?"He exclaimed, but by then it would be too late. His words as far as the Triton was concern would be be too distorted beneath the waves, leaving the Kobold grumbling and grumpy as usual.
"Oh don't worry about that one, Mr. Yully. If he's doing his job right one way or another, seeing the big'gun will be indication enough. The real trick and treat will be if he can get here faster than the critter. 'cause if, then, well-...." Hun looks to Krodhen and Yulmiath. "Seems it'll be you two or three in the case of Moss Beard that'll need to get out there and meet'em half way for Plan B. Which hopefully by then, he'd at least have gotten far enough away from the Sea Mare that the spook again won't decide to join the party."
Kairus departs on his luring mission, leaving Yulmiath and Rhogal to wonder if they should have developed another signal or key word for this plan.
In spite of being invisible, Kairus makes no attempt to hide. Quite the contrary, he makes his presence known to the aquatic dinosaur. Sporting two heads, it doesn't take long for the creature to zero in on the triton's locations. The creature is quite large, and its neck corresponds to about half of its length. Each mouth is full of sharp teeth, and the jaws themselves look quite powerful.
Kairus delivers his charm but soon notices that something is wrong. He knows that creatures of the sea should understand him, and he has even tested this communication with surface breathers as well. Nonetheless, the message is not getting through. Perhaps the creature doesn't understand the language, perhaps it's brain in incapable of intelligent/complex communication, perhaps the language of the sea doesn't work as well with reptiles, perhaps the creature fully understands the offer but simply doesn't care for it, or perhaps it single-mindedly hunts down anything that moves. Whatever the reason, the creature is coming for Kairus and it seems to prefers triton meat now than lizard meat later. (@Blue: You may keep your Luck Point.)
Kairus begins swimming back to his companions but the creature is gaining on him.
