As Val approaches the bones, Evy's dagger begins to sing out in their minds, causing the male cousin to stop in his tracks. The bones move under their own volition, collecting and rising to their boney feet and presenting themselves as eight skeletons in various bits of rags and armor, but all wielding some kind of blade or bow.
Who goes first? 81 The skeletons do! How many have swords? 5 How many of the 7 with swords are within 30 feet of Val? 0
Hold up! I just realized I said eight and then started calculating for 10. There's only one wielding a bow. So, ignore Bow 2 and Bow 3.
Sword 1 misses Val. Sword 2 hits Val for 8 slashing damage.
Bow 1 misses Evy.
Val, you are melee with two skeletons. Five more will reach you next round if you stay where you are. Evy you're 10 feet behind Val. The hallway is 10 feet wide.

Evy's firebolt slams into one of the two undead attacking Val. It's a solid hit and leaves the front of the creature blackened.
Undaunted, the two swordskellies continue their assault on Val while the other five move forward to join them. Three are able to get close while the last two have to push past their comrades to get close enough. (Val is in melee with five while two are 10 feet away and have to squeeze in to attack. If he wants to take an AoO on one of them, he can.) The skeleton armed with a bow fires another at Evy.

(OOC: Does this weird labyrinth count as being in the "Upside Down"? It makes a difference for Val's sword.)
-> Val's opportunity attack against one of the farther skellies: Attack: 9 Damage: 14
-> Wild Surge roll: 5
VAL'S TURN
Val will prioritize any skelly who is in a flanking position, although none of them should be now that Sword1 is down, right? If no skelly is currently flanking him, he aims for one of the rougher-looking ones.
-> Val's attack against one of the rough skellies: Attack: 24 Damage: 17
Your sword doesn't seem to be doing anything "extra special" yet.
As the skeleton that stepped up between two of its comrades to swing at Val and miss is pushed back by said two comrades, Val takes the opportunity to swing his own blade at the living skeleton. The hit is a good one, leaving the undead barely standing on its boney feet.
The male cousin then swings again, aiming for one of the creatures that was already damaged. His sword slices through its exposed ribcage and backbone, causing it to almost explode before collapsing.
Evy then sends four motes of magic sailing past Val. Boom! Boom! Two more previously-damaged skeletons burst apart. A third is hit, but stays together. Boom! The fourth also sends bones and bits of armor flying as it dematerializes.
The two remaining blade-wielding skeletons swing at Val (not flanking) while the bow-wielding skeleton fires another arrow at Evy.
Evy grins a little wildly, her teeth sharp, as her free hand is covered in fire with a soft "whump" and then she points and the bolt of fire streaks the bow wielding skeleton!
Action: cast Firebolt at bow skeleton. 20 to hit, for 8 fire damage

With precision, the other two sword wielding skeletons are ended for good, their bones dropping into the piles the cousins had first seen. All that is left now is the bow wielder. Undaunted, it fires another arrow at Evy.

The last fiend raises its bow as Val approaches, but the buff tiefling grasps the handle of his blade in both hands and with an overhead arc, brings his sword down through the middle of the undead, sending bone and armor fragments flying as the creature is undone.
The cousins pause to make sure they are in fact safe, and as their breathing begins to slow, they feel the threat has abated.

Beyond the remains of the skeletons, the hallway turns to the right in 30 feet.
“This one tried my patience,” Evy says as she pulls the skull off the bow skeleton, and rolls it back down the hallway. Then she dusts off her hands and indicates Val should move ahead to the new corner.

"With any luck," Val comments, "this is a trail that leads us to our quarry."
Val examines some of the bones in case he can learn anything from them.

Val does as he is told. "I hope these never-ending corners do, in fact, come to an end."
Val moves to the turn, turns, and encounters another long-ish hallway. About 60 feet away, a suit of armor stands like a statue.
