Amos puts a hand on Dmitri's shoulder, whispers something to him, and points at Paul and Ringo the fire beetles, who conduct the quickling down the hall to a room of his own. The brigganock sits back down, and says "Well now, I's anxious to hear yer reports o' yer adventures. How did it go? What did ye see? Obviously the elves were successful in their search, how's about the rest o' ye?"
Zensiro will provide a modestly detailed account of their various travails and triumphs, lacking any sort of literary grace or embellishment. He will note the impressive versatility of the AGGE in particular and the various difficulties of life at their present size. :-)
Amos invites you all to sit, and has the beetles bring in a large decanter of cool water sweetened with berries, and some cups carved from acorn-shells for you to drink out of. He listens attentively to your account, nodding and frowning at the appropriate times. He seems genuinely interested and appreciative of your ingenuity and diligence in accomplishing your tasks.
Finally, he says, "Well, that certainly be a tale to remember and tell yer little 'uns one day! Fine work, yes, very fine work. If you will excuse me a moment..."he stands and exits down the hall towards his storeroom.
He returns after a moment with two packages in his arms, wrapped in a folded greenleaf and tied with a bit of spider's silk. He hands one to Cerlinde, and the other to Zensiro.
"The queen sent these for ye in recognition of your service."
Cerlinde unwraps her package to discover a shirt of chainmail of surprisingly light weight. Despite being unfamiliar with armor in general, she seems to know by instinct how to don and function perfectly with this armor under her robes, perhaps due to its Elvish origin.
(Malichi, Amelia, Zithers: you can choose whether you wish to discuss your quest results and rewards privately, or here in the main thread in the company of your peers).
"Magnificent! Truly the Queen's beneficence knows no bounds. Although I feel like I am yet again in her debt. At least finding myself in the service of both the Queen and the High Lady is more of an honour than a burden."
"Amos told me about a dream he had of Tymora and that she had a message for me and a task. The task was to retrieve acorns, with no rot. I was so excited. The goddess has always been so generous with me and has never asked for anything in return"
With the practiced ease of an entertainer Malichi describes the courage and generosity of his compatriots in aiding him in his quest "I could never have done on my own" he says
He tells of AGGE the miraculous machine of Amos's, that he call Aggie, after a contortionist/sword swollower he used to know and how it transported them is some semblance of safely through such a treacherous journey, even up into the trees.
He tells a tail of the giant flying squirrels. How concerned with them they were because of their size, or our size compared to theirs, he corrects himself.
He had to confess how he let his excitement with the task given him interfere with his professionalism "I kept missing so many acorns that should have been easy for me" he says "I think that is a part of what Tymora was trying to teach me"
"The next higher level we split up. One branch I explored while the others worked on another branch, at a level higher went more smoothly. I was finding a rhythm. It was here that I spotted in a nearby tree a shine like none I've ever seen before. I committed it to memory and continued with my mission" he continues
"I counted the remaining acorns and realized there wouldn't be enough" he says, his voice beginning to raise in pitch and volume "Even darker threats lay above us and it was getting dark. We were running out of time. I thought, 'one more branch, quickly I have to! Tymora is counting on me! This is when I saw the wasps. "He paused for dramatic effect and went on with his voice softer and lower "The 'professional' in me said 'Walk away. You won't survive this one' and when sizing up a job, that voice has never been wrong. What could I do. I tried. I failed. Stabbed, poisoned, falling to my death, had Zensoro had not been there then, I would not be here now" he says and aside to Zensiro "I own you my life".
"with the final acorns abord we continued to the tree where I saw tree where I saw that mysterious gleam. The rest "he says with a bow "You already know"
(Before she left, the queen listened attentively to Malichi's rendition of his adventure, smiling, and at the conclusion saying, "Excellent! You are a most worthy disciple of your goddess.")
Amos receives the acorns from the tiefling, and inspects them, nodding in satisfaction. "Great work, all these be high quality specimens." He then gives the nuts to the beetles, who carry them back to the kitchen.
He presents the tiefling with a leaf-wrapped package as well. "The queen said Tymora'd want ye to have this." It contains a set of leather armor dyed blue-grey, embossed with motifs of snowflakes. (leather armor of resistance to cold).
He then invites all of you to rest around the fire, and retires to the kitchen to prepare a meal for you.
(If Amelia or anyone else wants to discuss personal quest rewards, just PM me)
After an hour or so, dinner is served. You see all the old familiar faces, Chauncey the butterfly, Nod the snail, the beetles, and a bemused Dmitri all seated at curving tables set around the central cooking and serving area. Dinner begins with a green salad mixed with carrot, radish, and purple cabbage, served with olive oil and a lingonberry vinaigrette. This is followed by a heaping portion of roasted sweet potato, with available toppings of cinnamon, honey and creamy butter. The dessert course consists of 7 honey-sweetened acorn pies, with flaky crusts and a dark woody flavor without any bitterness.
After dinner, it is now time to discuss your plans. Will you return to Erastus' lab the same way you exited, through the rat tunnel, or instead will you go around the exterior and attempt the main entrance? Or something else?
"Amos, what a glorious meal! I would never have guessed that getting shrunk by that mad gnome would have led to such delights as meeting you and Queen Titania, or scaling trees in a metal contraption. I hope that once we are returned to our normal height, we are still able to count you as a companion and that we might be able to repay your many kindnesses. Also, maybe you could share one or two of your wonderful recipes!" Zensiro sits back, folds his hands behind his head, and sighs contentedly. "Well friends, perhaps in the morning we should head back to Erastus' place where this all started and see if that nut's figured out how to reverse our condition? I'd prefer to avoid those tunnels and we have good mobility with the AGGE, but I'm not sure if we want to risk getting spotted in it. What are your thoughts?"
(I'm fine to keep going, although running solo might be a little odd, if you want to continue. I also know that you're running another adventure now and this one may have run longer than you anticipated, so I'm also totally fine with a quick wrap-up if that's preferable for you! :-)
(I'm still enjoying it, but with most everybody dropping out, I wanted to give you the option. Really the only major plot point left is how are you going to get Erastus' attention (and, I guess, if he will figure out how to reverse it, but I've got that covered)).
All right, then Zensiro will plan to take the AGGE under the cover of darkness, seeking a route that will keep the machine concealed and out from under foot. Hopefully he will be able to reach Erastus' home before daybreak and do some recon to identify an infiltration point. As we've established, Zensiro is very observant, although he has limited experience with the AGGE. Let me know if he comes across anything he needs to deal with!
(And apparently I came back to this page after leaving it for a while without refreshing it, so I'm happy to revise the plan or to have the esteemed company of Cerlinde and Amelia!)
After a pleasant evening with Amos, during the night you mount up inside AGGE and travel through the dark back out to the surface and around to the front door of the building. You arrive by dawn, but the door appears shut. At your size, there is a gap between the bottom of the door and the frame that you could all crawl through, but you would have to leave AGGE behind.
"Well Malichi, I know you're fond of this old metal beast, but we may have to leave it behind for now. Unless the three of you know of an entrance to the house that we could drive in with the AGGE? It would be easier to catch Erastus' attention with it than without. If not, maybe we should park it around the side and squeeze under the door?"
Hoo-boy, the kickage of the buttage. I came down with something yesterday, and I have barely dragged myself out of bead in the last 36 hr. COVID test is neg x 2, but i still think it's likely. So, it will take me a couple of days to get back to posting. The DM will be taking a break for 2-3 days, which should worry you all as it gives me extra time to come up with something devilish.

Malichi is still here. He rarely lets anything get between himself and a good meal
"I ready to be back to my normal small size and I'd love to drive Aggie one more time. We still have that key and coin in Aggie don't we?" he asks
